This amazing woman in her sixties named Barbara Schwenk that I've been working with at the Greenhouse gave me these to give to Mauro when I go to Italy in September.
I told her he liked rubber stamps of American food which is true. I also told her he liked skulls and skeletons and she wants to give me some of those too, wants me to meet her at an outlet mall, says that's convenient for her.
This was after I knew she collected rubber stamps because she brought her scrapbook into work to show me the letters she had recieved from Bill Clinton and Mother Theresa and people who write romanticized novels about American Indians and she sends all these people rubber stamp decorated envelopes. And to people in the hospital and she sends money to a family living on a reservation in South Dakota and for thirty years she sent money to a black family in MIssissippi whom she's never met.
And the only reason she works at the greenhouse is make money to give away because her boyfriend, who's rich, thinks that her giving money away is silly.
I got mad and said, Barbara, you've got to make that man buy you a plane ticket to Mississippi so that you can go meet this family you helped.

A huge tractor used for towing boats into the North Sea at Cromer beach in England. It was impressively corroded and an inviting photographic subject, but not quite where I could get a clear composition away from the nearby buildings. Converted this one to mono and toned it in Nik Silver Efex Pro.

This is another recent eBay purchase, the 1980 Ben Cooper Godzilla jiggler. This rubber critter was originally released in 1974 as a generic dinosaur, and was apparently rereleased in 1980 as Godzilla. He still has his cord and his Godzilla tag. His belly is marked "Ben Cooper c1974 Made In Hong Kong". I had the generic dinosaur version as a kid.
This is Plaza Gabriel Miró, a little but charming square in Alicante, Spain. I loved seeing these rubber trees! They immediately reminded me of Singapore.
I finally saw my first Rubber Tree here in Virginia. I always thought Rubber Trees were found in South America. Boy, was I surprised to find them growing this far north.
This particular tree is the Genus and species Goodyearicus radialia.
I am going back tomorrow to look for Michelifera fourplyus.
Happy Weekend Flickr Friends!
Macro Mondays: Eraser(s)
Looking for something with which to photograph these erasers among my son's Architecture Uni drawings that he's left behind; found this in one of his old school Visual Arts Diaries. Most appropriate HMM :)
Great theme this week. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s photos. I have to give my wife credit for my idea this week. I think she enjoys brainstorming on the ideas as much as I do. I had several ideas with staples, nails, or screws, but she said “you should do something with those colorful rubber bands in the desk drawer.” I wrapped and twisted a few around the end of a pencil. Given the relatively short height compared to the width dimension of my rubber band wrapped pencil, it seemed like a great opportunity for a reflection. I placed on a black acrylic reflective surface and got my final image in record time (for me). I just had to make couple of lighting and aperture adjustments and did very little post processing. HMM!
Part of a group of 7 ducklings, this one just wandered a little too close to the rapids. Watching him negotiate the rapids he took them exactly like a rubber duck. His only problem was cycling back to the group and he handled like he was born for water - it looked like he had a Evinrude motor strapped to his back. I guess mom decided her group of youngsters should be dropped into the deep end rather than float comfortably on the lake. Tough love.
