In 1963, I Hitchhike Route 66, From Chicago To Santa Monica California, And Then Into Mexico, I Was 17. Images@kennethcanada.com
I jumped out of the car to take this photo in poring rain and high winds - water droplets got to the lens - but I had to have a photo of a Routemaster!
Converted to monochrome.
A foggy day in Loughton. I really liked the old style direction fingerpost.
Apologies for not being so active here. Health reasons I'm sorry to say and at this point I fear it might be for most of 2023 before all matters are resolved.

Seen here on a part of Sewardstone Road it doesn't normally use. Due to resurfacing of a road it does use, it was diverted to the bottom of Kings Head Hill and right into Sewardstone Road coming from Chingford Station.
Despite the rural look it's two short stops away from a railway & bus station and a road full of shops.
I was quite surprised to find that Sundays and Bank Holidays that the service was run by a large minibus. Even so - seen here in Loughton - it seems to be moving fresh air about. If services aren't used, they generally don't last.
Converted to monochrome. Taken through shelter glass.
Route 66 runs right by the Petrified Forest National Park. We only had a short amount of time available to go by some Route 66 spots. We have plans to spend more time on Route 66 the next time that we are in the area.
A recent closure of Chingford Lane meant quite a diversion for Route 275, seen here at the bottom of Friday Hill, from there turning right into Whitehall Road, right onto the A104 and line of route at The Castle.
Route 66 nostalgia

Route 66 November 11, 1926-June 27, 1985
As seen on the stand at Chigwell Row, Essex.
I see the marketing aspect of painting the route up on the bus, but it really loses its flexibility, as it's bound to be used on other routes due to bus shortage for whatever reason.
On the ninth day of the Wet'suwet'en First Nation rail blockade in Ontario - a day after CN announced it would "shut down its Eastern Canada network" - a handful of trains took the scenic route over the Ontario Northland Railway to reach their respective destinations of Toronto (southbound) and Northern Quebec (northbound). Here, detoured CN stack train no. 149 is seen racing southbound along ONR's Temagami Subdivision, kicking up snow by the line's gorgeous namesake station.
Route 55 (a.k.a. Sognefjellsvegen in Norway) across the Sognefjell mountain area is the highest mountain pass in Northern Europe, with spectacular and wild mountain scenery.
It is the main gateway to the Jotunheimen National Park - Norway’s highest mountains.
Note the month this photo was taken in - does it look like July?
The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer. A bus from Hella connects with Álftavatn once a day during the summer.
