I have just joined the "Get Pushed" group for Round 5 and have been paired up with the wonderful Shelly~. After looking at my stream she challenged me to take a long exposure night shot, preferably of an urban scene, which she rightly believed to be something a little out of my comfort zone.

Unfortunately I am rather housebound this month in suburban Lincolnshire, (not my home,) while I care for sick and elderly family members. (Perhaps not a great time to begin a new group or new challenge, but I could not resist,) so Shelly~ left the challenge pretty open to accommodate this. Thanks, Shelly~

But it has poured with rain since I received the challenge, so first I experimented with some long exposures in the house, then I ventured out to the garden and then to the end of the drive to try my luck between rain showers.

But none of those shots were interesting or really met the challenge the way I wanted to.

So finally, I tucked my charges up with the TV, took my mobile phone with me, borrowed a slicker, a tripod, and an umbrella and marched out in the rain to the roundabout at end of the road and got this shot.

I hope it meets the challenge well enough. It is a long exposure, 8 secs, at night, and although not in an urban area, it is in suburbia, which is the best I could manage under my present circumstances.

P.S. Despite the recorded info, this photo was taken in the UK at 9:30ish. My camera is still set for Pacific time.
