The Yadkin Local wakes up downtown Rockwell as they make their weekday trip down to Halls Ferry. My camera has collected a lot of dust lately due to NS's implementation of PSR resulting in a purge of any remotely interesting road power. On the bright side, I can still get excited for the many branchlines in the area that feature old time railroading and vintage power like this endangered GP59.
On an extremely warm August day, a passing thought, an appreciation of the workers that endure the long hours and the massive amount of demanding tourists at Disney's theme parks. The summer's heat, a true test of their endurance.

I came across a black and white photo of Norman Rockwell the other day and since he's one of my favorite artists I thought I would pay tribute to him by colorizing the photo and painting it in his style......hope he wouldn't mind.

This very sharp nearly-94-year-old gentlemen has been a lifelong neighbor to the Olsons, is brother-in-law to Andrew Wyeth, and now gives a daily talk at the Olson House. He's a fascinating speaker, with lots of anecdotes and explanations about Wyeth's relationship to the Olsons and the circumstances surrounding many of the related paintings.
