Robby is an amazing man. He owns and drives the only independent race team that remains in NASCAR, although he has recently brought on a limited partner. This type of racing is the backbone of NASCAR...where it all began, yet few recognize Robby for this. It's become cost prohibited for driver/owner teams in NASCAR, yet this man continues to pull it off.
He also owns and races a large Baja Truck team. These he races in The Baja 1000 as well as international Baja type races around the world.
My wife Patty and I were up close and personal with him yesterday at the New Hampshire International Speedway. Patty had this poor guy in stitches with her comical jabs and gestures. Robby enjoyed this, but most of the crowd gathered for autographs were not that amused.... all of Robby's attention was focused on Patty... one lady even went as far as to insult my wife which only turned into more humor and one of the track security guards {a woman} said something negative and both Robby and Patty said "Wow! she really takes her job serious". At one point he asked me, being the husband, if I were responsible for this...all jokingly. It's fun getting personal with celebrities. ...I guess you had to be there.
Robby has been one of my favorite NASCAR drivers for many years, but after yesterday he has climbed up my list to the top along with Mark Martin, Bobby Labonte, Greg Biffle & Tony Stewart. I'm one of those rare fans who is not solely stuck on one driver.
