Great to see this raptor over the nature reserve yesterday for the first time.

I had a hike in this trail....saw some red-winged blackbirds and a great blue heron. There were two photographers shooting it with two giant telescope cameras; I couldn't get a good shot, as I didn't take a longer lens with me. :-((

Apparently, Larks like the summer and warm temps here in Jordan; and I'm pleased and happy they do. They are certainly great subjects... hopping up onto stones and boulders in the sun, they seem unconcerned with the kestrals and buzzards that are always patrolling above them, who I must say also seem more interested in doves and feral pigeons.
Another warm morning, fantastic up and down walking among the pines and olive trees in and around the edge of the forest reserve. The 400 mm is almost one Kg (2+ lbs) heavier than the 300 mm... still working on handheld technique with it... plus walking is very deliberate on up and downhill scree and loose soil... can't drop or land on top of this! :-)
Shout out to the Jordan Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) for their great work in the protected areas of Jordan and also Mr. Mohammad Hammad and Mr. Ali Hasan at SixT for always finding me the compact SUV I need to get around on the weekends in back-country Jordan... :-)

On the left side of the shore, it leads all the way to Darling Harbour and you can see Anzac Bridge (cable bridge).
On top of the hill on the right side is old Sydney Rocks area.
Rhinoceros: since 1973 the population has recovered well and increased to 544 animals around the turn of the century. To ensure the survival of the endangered species in case of epidemics animals are translocated annually from Chitwan to the Bardia National Park and the Sukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve since 1986. However, the population has repeatedly been jeopardized by poaching: in 2002 alone, poachers killed 37 individuals in order to saw off and sell their valuable horns.[6] Chitwan has the largest population of Indian rhinoceros in Nepal, estimated at 605 individuals out of 645 in total in the country.
Der Park ist bekannt für die Population des Panzernashorns, die bis zur Jahrtausendwende auf 544 Tiere und bis zum Frühjahr 2015 auf 645 Nashörner[6] angewachsen war. Seit 1986 werden alljährlich Tiere von Chitwan in den Bardia-Nationalpark und in das Suklaphanta-Wildreservat übersiedelt. Die Population war aber immer wieder durch Wilderei stark gefährdet: allein im Jahre 2002 haben Wilderer 37 Tiere grausam getötet, um das kostbare Horn absägen und verkaufen zu können. Die letzte Zählung im Jahr 2011 ergab insgesamt 503 Nashörner im Park, im selben Zeitraum starben zwei Tiere durch Wilderer. Bei der Zählung im Frühjahr 2015 wurden 645 Tiere in Nepal gefunden[6], davon 605 im Chitwan-Nationalpark[8], während gleichzeitig in den letzten drei Jahren kein Tier durch Wilderer ums Leben kam.
We followed a walking trail not too far from Bruges, called the 'Doeveren walk'. It mainly leads through wood, but there are some meadows that are grazed by Galloway cattle too.

Paracas National Reserve - Perù 20221118
The Paracas National Reserve is a Peruvian protected area that protects desert and marine ecosystems for their conservation and sustainable use. Within the reserve there are also archaeological remains of the Paracas culture.
The reserve is located in the region of Ica, 250 km south of Lima and a few kilometres from the city of Pisco. It covers an area of 335,000 hectares, 65% of which correspond to marine ecosystems. The maximum altitude of the reserve is 786 metres.[3]
The reserve includes coastal geographical elements such as: the Paracas Peninsula, Independencia Bay, San Gallán Island and Paracas Bay.

Higher, in the valley of Planica the creek which flows there soon disappears under gravel. Only here, near Rateče, where valley bottom is made of clay rests of an ancient lake, water comes out again - as crystal clear sources of Sava river. This small marsh land is protected as a natural reserve and arranged for tourist visit.
Dancersend Nature Reserve is a site of Special Scientific interest managed by BBOWT. One part of the Rothschild family estate the Reserve was established din 1939 in memory of Charles Rothschild who set up the Society for the promotion of Nature Reserves, regarded as the launch of the wildlife Trust movement in Britain. The soil at Dancersend ranges from acid to alkaline, ensuring a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Paracas National Reserve - The Cathedral 20221118
The Cathedral was an imposing rock formation caused by sea erosion and wind throughout the centuries. Its concave shape was reminiscent of the domes of the cathedrals, and inside lived some marine cats or chingungos and seabirds. Considered a World Heritage Site, it was one of the natural images of Peru's most photographed and disseminated. Its structure collapsed during the earthquake of 8 degrees on the Richter scale August 15, 2007 that was centered city Pisco. The remains of this figure are among the Yumaque and Supay beaches.
