Description: Dr Leah Cotterell's project: Sunday Nights at the Primitif.
To wrap up the afternoon, Dr Leah Cotterell, 2022 Letty Katts Fellow and her Jazz band gave an exclusive jazz performance on the Queensland Terrace, paying homage to the iconic 1950s Primitif Café and it's history. Guest were dressed in Hawaiian shirts to capture the authentic atmosphere of the venue, mirroring the style of the Prims’s patrons.
The Letty Katts Fellowship supports the research and documenting of Queensland’s music history. It gives a musician, composer, scholar or researcher the opportunity to study, experiment and explore new thinking in their art or area of study, leading to the creation of new knowledge or work inspired by Queensland’s music history. It commemorates Queensland songwriter and musician Violet Mellick (stage name Letty Katts).

Protik Chandra Biswas, research associate, Jason Gunn, lab manager, and Brian Pogue, Dartmouth's Robert A. Pritzker Professor of Biomedical Engineering, are developing a tool that uses a naturally-occurring molecule to measure cellular oxygen levels as a way to monitor tissue health over time. The tool could provide a simple, affordable method that is far superior to blood oxygen saturation measures for detecting disease and making treatment decisions.
