Completion of two of the three research pads on the South end of the EGK site. Taken Oct 12, 2006. These pads float on 1" of sand to isolate the ground vibrations from the mounts. The center pad is the EGK Observatory, IAU code H05. The 40" square acommodates both of my scopes, the 18" has a rectangular base. The outer two pads have 3 rectangular pavers to acommodate a wide range of tripod mounts. The lava rock experiment was later move from the square pad to the loading area below the ramp off of my truck bed for better winter traction while offloading and loading the truck of the two 225 lbs buggies

During "Culture Forum" in Moscow, we start our research. Who is this culture manager? We heard that culture managers are descendants of magicians! Is it true? We try to collect magic from people and bring to live (reanimate) puppet with culture energy!
Is it really works?

The UOC Research Showcase 2019 (5 November at Barcelona's CosmoCaixa), an internal UOC event. The theme for this year's event is the UN's 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event forms part of the SDG Autumn being organized by the University and leads on from the #ODSUOC event being held on 25 September.
The UOC believes that, faced with the current global challenges, it is vital that we reflect on how, in terms of research activities, we can contribute to social transformation and make progress towards fairer, more sustainable societies. The UOC wants to use this year's Research Showcase to highlight how the R&I activity developed at the University has an impact on the 2030 Agenda, and to foster collaboration, synergies and interdisciplinary research among the teaching and research staff.
My research focuses on understanding muscle plasticity and its remarkable ability to adapt to stress. Muscle fibres are unique in their structure – multiple primary cells fuse with each other to create long fibres with multiple nuclei. Invaginations in the cell surface called T-Tubules, the sarcoplasmic reticulum and the mitochondria co-localise to create a triad next to the contractile apparatus. This structural pattern is responsible for simultaneously translating neural signals into movement as well as energy. Numerous molecular signals within these fibres work in exquisitely orchestrated synergy to result in every single move we make. In this image, I hope to convey how complex and beautiful our muscles are, inside and out.
