The RBMN main passes multiple landmarks in close proximity between mileposts 147 and 148. At milepost 147 the railroad navigates the sweeping S-curve known as Keenapple Curve, a popular location for railfans to shoot northbounds. A few hundred feet railroad-north, the railroad passes through White Haven Tunnel. After popping out of the tunnel, trains will pass this CNJ-era searchlight signal guarding southbound movements on the line. At this location, NRFF climbs uphill northbound on its way toward Pittston. Very close inspection will show the engineer repping a T-shirt from another favorite Appalachian mountain railroad - the Clinchfield.

MRL 404 & 405 both are GP35’s repping the old MRL paint scheme, lead the MRL 841 job back into Bozeman, MT passing a set of Northern Pacific signals. This local is based out of Bozeman and serves local industries and makes the occasional run to Livingston Yard, which so happened to happen this day.

Put about twenty minutes of thought into intercepting on this Shops bound stack train from Seattle, Washington, was able to see this spot from the 99 since trees in the open parts of the valley stand out big time. Anyways....with no opposing traffic other than the northbound ZLCTM much further south on the Fresno Subdivision, Union Pacific 8119 blasts by the Athlone Road crossing with the tree line along Deadman Creek providing a pretty cool looking back drop.

With the light as it was, I couldn't pass up the first departure in Oxford as it passed the old school elevator. I'd had the zoom a bit tighter, but when I saw the folks on the right walk up, I adjusted to get them in as they were repping the brands of the two orgs responsible for today's adventure. Gotta tip the cap to IAIS, the CSSPA, and Oxford FD for putting on a great show.
[NL] De Betuweroute, vaak door mij (en anderen) vervloekt wegens het wegsnoepen van een boel goederenverkeer over het klassieke net. Liefkozend heeft de route ook de naam ‘betonbak’, vast vanwege de vele geluidsschermen die het aantal fotopunten langs deze route flink beperkt. ’s Zomers is er echter een mooi fotopunt bij Dodewaard, aan de noordkant van de spoorlijn.
Vorig jaar ben ik een paar keer ’s avonds de Rijn overgestoken voor een avondfietsrondje, en natuurlijk kon een fotostop niet ontbreken ;) Op de avond van 4 juli 2024 was de Rzepin shuttle voorgemeld, dus had ik een bierviltjesberekening gemaakt hoe laat deze over de Betuweroute zou komen. De berekening bleek veel te optimistisch te zijn, want ik mocht een uur wachten voordat er iets langs kwam vanuit de juiste richting. Uiteindelijk dook een grijze Railpool Traxx op met de fraaie trailertrein om negen uur in de avond. Zodoende zien we locomotief 186 533 op het laatste stukje van de reis naar Tilburg Industrie, waarna de fotograaf weer op de fiets naar huis keerde.
[EN] The Dutch Betuweroute, a cargo-only railway, does not have many photo spots thanks to the many noise barriers. One spot that I found suitable, is located near Dodewaard, north of the railway, and thus only usable during summer evenings. On the evening of July 4th last year, I decided to give it a go, and went by bike to the spot.
Unfortunately, during the one hour wait, only one westbound train passed along. It was an anonymous Railpool Traxx, however, with a fully loaded intermodal train. The photo shows HSL 186 533 with a container train from Rzepin towards Tilburg Industrie.

Ein Spot, den ich für geeignet hielt, befindet sich bei Dodewaard nördlich der Bahnstrecke und ist daher nur an Sommerabenden nutzbar. Am Abend des 4. Juli letzten Jahres beschloss ich, es zu versuchen, und radelte zu diesem Spot. Leider fuhr während der einstündigen Wartezeit nur ein Zug in Richtung Westen vorbei. Es war jedoch ein unscheinbarer Railpool Traxx mit einem voll beladenen Intermodalzug. Das Foto zeigt HSL 186 533 mit einem Containerzug von Rzepin (Reppen) in Richtung Tilburg Industrie.

On the adjacent track, a pair of 70MACH's on an MD-W service catches up for a brief race before hitting a yellow signal for Tower A2.

Traveling the back country roads in Central Oklahoma, I saw this beautiful custom decorative gate. I love to find artistic gates and mailboxes. I think it says something special about the owners. I have found a number of pretty gates in Texas. This one in Oklahoma is certainly one of the prettiest I've ever seen.

A few scans from the US Pacific Northwest, taken almost 25 years ago.
I was on a two week plus car trip doing a loop from Seattle, and on this Saturday heading up the Oregon Trunk towards The Dalles on Route 97. We are a few miles north of Redmond here.
The bridge here was the second highest in the USA when opened in 1911, and as far as I know the route is still in use today. The road bridge can be seen in the distance, and I had parked and walked along the top of the gorge simply to get a shot of the railway bridge. Seeing a signal light on green I waited some minutes and this turned up. The locos are BN SD40-2's 7162 & 7134, then GP40-2's 3053 &3045.
Anyone with T.O.Repp's excellent album "Main Streets of the Northwest" wil recognise this bridge from the cover, albeit taken against the light from the road side.

The Parish Church of Saint Peter & Saint Paul

Cromer is a small costal town and civil parish on the north Norfolk coast approximately 23 miles north of the county town of Norwich.
Cromer became a resort in the early 19th century, with some of the rich Norwich banking families making it their summer home. Visitors included the future King Edward VII, who played golf here. The resort's facilities included the late-Victorian Cromer Pier, which is home to the Pavilion Theatre.
The parish church of St Peter and St Paul sits proudly in the centre of the old town. the medieval west tower is 160ft tall and the tallest church tower in the county of Norfolk. The church fell into a virtually ruinous state in the beginning of the 18th century and it was almost completely demolished in 1757. as Cromer became a popular seaside resort attitudes towards the church changed and in 1862 Arthur Bloomfield began a restoration project which included a new nave roof and a new chancel.

Cette chapelle a été construite au quatorzième siècle suite à une guérison: un chasseur blessé a été instantanément guéri par l'eau de la source. Elle est située sur la commune de Bréchaumont, en pleine nature, à égale distance du Territoire de Belfort (Reppe) et du Haut-Rhin (Bréchaumont, Elbach, Chavannes-sur-l'Étang).
