No not the bird (although there may have been some around) this is the mountain range on the Coromandel peninsula, a stiff 4 hour climb made harder when you have to carry extra water for an overnight camp at the top where there is no camp or water source, only a patch of clear ground big enough for a small tent . It is a real jungle up here - very dense foliage, thankfully there was a small radio repeater mast near by, high enough to climb up above the tree tops to see out, and what a view it is !
This view is looking north toward "the Pinnacles" and beyond to Mercury Bay
The most beautiful part of the Cosmos Pavilion and its hallmark is the majestic dome. Its height is 60 m . Despite its huge size, thanks to its unique design, it seems very light: narrow metal ribs and solid glazing create a feeling of airiness and do not prevent the penetration of light into the pavilion. The drum of the dome is also pierced by windows, there are 24 of them in total.
The dome is crowned with a five-pointed star. Initially, in 1954, when the dome was just built, a star was mounted in it from the highest tower of the Moscow Kremlin — Troitskaya. Such stars appeared on four Kremlin towers in 1935. They were made of stainless steel and red copper, covered with gilding and decorated with Ural gems — rock crystal, topaz and aquamarine. In the center of each star were placed inlaid emblems of a hammer and sickle 2 m high and weighing 240 kg. The total weight of each star exceeded a ton. Later, these stars on the Kremlin towers were replaced with ruby ones.In the modern exposition of the pavilion, right under the dome at a height of about 30 m, there is a full-size mock-up of the Luch-5A repeater satellite. The Luch series of spacecraft is necessary for constant communication with the International Space Station, for transmitting a signal from the board to the Mission Control Center. This series of satellites was developed under the guidance of Mikhail Reshetnev, a student and colleague of Sergei Korolev.
The satellite was launched on December 11, 2011 from the Baikonur cosmodrome and placed into geostationary orbit at an altitude of 36 thousand meters above the equator. It is an element of the space system, which includes several other similar devices. Together, they communicate with the Russian segment of the International Space Station, and also help in relaying the GLONASS system and the hydrometeorological system of Roshydromet. It is thanks to the Luch satellite system that we can see and hear Russian cosmonauts from the ISS, and the cosmonauts themselves can use the Internet

The season in which the yellow flowers, known as broom (Cytisus oromediterraneus), coexist with the last traces of snow doesn't last long. These flowers rise in height as the temperature warms, even covering the mountain summits of the Madrid Sierra with their beautiful yellow color.
Here you can see the north face of La Bola del Mundo, at 7,408 feet or 2,258 m above sea level, rising above Valdesquí ski resort, with the obsolete signal repeater antennas on its summit. Currently, with the digitalization of TV, they only broadcast on certain radio bands.
Photo taken from the area around Peñalara, on a day that was somewhat warm for the mountains, and with haze and suspended dust impairing visibility.

Feliz Jueves, amig@s!
Another shot from a visit to the High Wycombe area earlier in the year. In this case, having had an early meal at the hotel I checked Freightlocate and found the 19.14 Calvert - Cricklewood bin-liners (6M23) was running to time and, with the promise of a dryish evening, headed down to the station to have a go at this shot featuring the down platform repeater signal.
I was more than chuffed to find 66044, a newly repainted specimen, doing the honours. Light was fading fast however and it needed 1/320s @ F8, and 5000asa to land it. Think I just about got away with it!

Just home from Auckland after seeing two of our daughters who live up there. This is the view from Mt Eden towards the Harbour. The crator of the volcano is still evident though the volcano is extinct.
Edit: you can just see a person walking on the left above the crator to give some idea of scale.

Dangers to NZ's largest city!
from Wikipedia
Since the volcano field is not extinct, new volcanic events may occur at any time, though the usual period between events averages between hundreds and thousands of years. However, the effects of such an event, especially a full-scale eruption, would be substantial – ranging from pyroclastic surges, earthquakes, lava bombs, ash falls, venting volcanic gas to lava flows. These effects might continue for several months and cause substantial destruction and disruption. ... One possibility is that more than one volcano may erupt in Auckland at one time. There is strong evidence that five erupted within a span of 50 years or less, approximately 32,000 years ago.
Auckland has a seismic monitoring network comprising six seismometers (including one 250 m deep at Riverhead) and three repeaters within the Auckland Region that will pick up the small tremors likely to precede any volcanic activity. These tremors are likely to give some hours to some days of warning about an impending eruption and its approximate location.
The antennas and repeaters on the highest part of my town, Santa Margherita di Belice, in Sicily, land of "The Leopard" by G. Tomasi di Lampedusa. The Sicilian sunset is always something indescribable in its colors and intensity. Here I preferred to take the shades towards the beginning of the blue hour, with the light coming from the side. The antennas are there as if looking down on the town centre.

Facade of the House of Fraser department store (formerly Rackhams), Corporation Street, Birmingham. The building was designed by architects T. P. Bennett and Son and opened in 1961.
A N3/SPW Cyber build. Integrated holosights, there's no need of a front sight. Equiped with a flashlight and some rails for foregrips /optional sights.
Uses N3 Special energy, more compact and powerfull. Every can has energy enough to allow firing 100 rounds, as shown in the ammo indicator.
Credit to N3 and SPW teams. Ignore the grouping/uploading errors, please =P
Thoughts??
If you can fave, you also can comment, can't you?
It almost never snows here in Tecate, so I had to dig deep to find a photo that is somewhat local for a shot showing some snow. After seeing all the snowy weather on the news and my Flickr friends posting their snowy landscapes, I though I should post something, too.
This was taken looking west from Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, my local backyard desert. There are radio antennas on top as well as a HAM radio repeater that I can hit from my house. The summit is about 20 miles away from my house, as the crow flies (although around here, it would be a raven).

CN 107 rolls through Whitby with CSXT 4001 trailing. The air repeater container behind the power was also a nice surprise.
Here is my rendition of Archyrie's Imperial Navy Repeating Rifle, which is an incredible and impressive 0.6 creation! Decided to keep the color scheme relatively intact because I felt it was fitting of the weapon's overall aesthetic appeal.
Another energy weapon. Tube mag holds the 'fuel', with it being energized by the electronic cartridge.
Used by the elite light infantry scouts deployed to counter enemy cavalry.
Yeah I'm having fun with energy weapons now, and thinking of a story, or at least to define the setting.
A rare high quality short range rapid fire sidearm. Sometimes seen adopted by security forces, military police, and armour crews. Three heavy duty veins around the emitter help control bursts. Origins thought to be the once nomadic people of the far north eastern wastes, being believed to of founded a fledgling industrial city after rumours of Rivacheg Company trade parties in the area.
Yeah I'm picking these back up. Still have no background, but I'm trying to keep things consistent and link stuff.

I also got a few other energy repeaters, but I thought I'd just showcase these four. Thank you X39BrickCustoms for making such awesome accessories!
Disclaimer: I photoshopped out a repeater tower from in front of the house in the background.
A few weeks ago I managed to stumble into a loaded B&P coal train stopped outside of town waiting on traffic to clear at McKeesport on my way back from running some errands. With a little bit of time to kill, I decided to wait it out and see if they'd get on the move anytime soon before I had to head off to work.
Almost as if it was clockwork, a few short minutes later the trio of orange and black SD40-3's throttled up, the lead engine is given a few quick taps of the horn and away they went. The quick start up took me by surprise, so I ended up just settling for a few different photos of the train passing by the coal stained entrance to the former GTC complex. It made for a very productive 10 minutes on this fine summer evening.
Now if only it was always this easy!
