In memory of David Lett, who died Thursday. Its a big loss and all of us who work here in the industry or enjoy the wines, owe him for bringing Pinot Noir vines to Oregon against the advice of California winemakers 40 years ago. It was thought to be too wet and cold, but it has found its way to being some of the best in the world. His son Jason Lett took over winemaking for Eyrie vineyards several years ago and continues to make great Oregon Pinot Noir.

Tribute by Jenny Campbell:
"all i want to do is spend some time with you, so i can hold you. RIP chris bell, bigstar."
Meditation by Louis Schwartz:
"As Hillel taught, the things we do for the dead are the greatest of good deeds, because we do them for those from whom we have no expectation of reward (or even a response). And what can we do for them but remember them?
(even if that don't get him back again)"

Alzheimer's
(Noun)
Progressive mental deteriorization that can occur in middle or old age, due to generalized degeneration of the brain. It is the most common cause of premature senility.
That is the definition of Alzheimer's. What that definition fails to mention is that it affects so much more than the brain. You lose someone you love, to a point beyond recognition. Someone who raised you, forgets who you are, and you are left watching the person you love and admire slip away into a shell of lost memories.
All that is left is the hope that where ever their mind is resting now, it is somewhere that you can say "Remember me?" and they can reply "Always."
In 1984 after the Pepsi fire incident, I saw Michael Jackson at a 7-11 with Emmanuel Lewis. They were leaving as I was coming in. Michael held the door for me, he still had bandages on his head. I was too stunned to even say thank you. I will always remember that moment. Thanks Michael!
Remember, in case of fire, use the Tower Ladder, not the elevators.

Paris, June 26 2009:
People get together outside of Notre-Dame in Paris to remember and celebrate the life and music of the King of Pop.
How easily memories can be restored... yet the cost comes down to the passion of volunteers with a vision. God bless you.
