This photo is actually a 2-in-1 sort of project. Originally, we were just going to try a remake of an old Marilyn Monroe photo titled "Blowing On a Dandelion" photographed by Dave Cicero in 1951 (originally titled "Miss Cheesecake"). But, then I let it sit in my hard drive until today when I stumbled upon a concept I wrote down a few months ago that I thought I lost.
I've always wanted to make something be still in time just like any photograph would do and does. Of course, I realized how happy I was to remake such a famous photograph and have such a happy coincidence that I would also find an old concept to fit the image perfectly. Like a puzzle piece falling into place, my model Mary here takes Marilyn's place, making it as if the real Monroe never left that grassy area on that sunny day in 1951. Like many deceased artist - and I'd like to add one who died at a young age - her spirit and glamour is present in daily life today. She's still being printed on books and biographies so it's like she really has never left.
I could call this a tribute, but really it was just a spontaneous portrait of a photograph I enjoyed since I was a little girl. I'm so happy to finally make it.

The idea is to show the gas price inflation through the artwork, which looks like a remake of Banksy style.
My idea is to do a remake of Rene Magritte's piece, (La Valse Hesitation), replacing the two apples wearing a mask, with two ninja turtles' heads.

A 22 story tower is rising where once stood a 1924 building which, among other things, served up a car dealership, KNX radio and, finally, spaghetti until June 19, 2007. As is happening all over Hollywood, the tower will include 305 apartments or condos and 40,000 sq. ft. of retail space.
Speaking of the nightmare of traffic already present on Sunset Blvd. (without a 22 story tower in place). Don't forget that Emerson College will be right across the street! But doesn't it all end well (as the 1924 building which housed the Old Spaghetti Factory will have its four wood trusses and fireplace mantel reinstalled somewhere in the new tower)?

This is my apartment in Stockholm that I've worked on for a few months. The general idea was two give it the feel of the twenties that it deserved. When I moved there it was a very modern IKEA kind of feel to it. I've used a lot of old materials, doors, a huge old window and some nice old kitchen interior that I've found at different containers and antique bargains.

If you think about it, all that stuff with training chimps to be astronauts was just animal testing writ really, really large.
Also, chimps are astonishingly vicious when they feel like it.
I saw an amazing remake of 5580 on Rebrickable and it reminded me of my love for another Model Team set. I remember drooling over the Giant Truck every time I saw it in promotional material, but I never saved up enough money to actually buy it. Considering it's been retired for a long time now, it's pretty rare and when the price has skyrocketed. So I built my own version. I used my Peterbilt MOC as a basis, but many, many changes have been made to make it match the original set. I think I got many of the details, but I couldn't figure out a good solution for the ladder that would fit in the space required. In order to make it match the more modern stud-less sets, I smoothed out many of the surfaces, but kept the studs on the lights as an homage.

Remake to 2 seals using the original beads the heads face the correct way in the book. Mistakes happen from when i mis read the diagrams as they are correct. In the past I placed a marker on which section I was on. Difficult to tell which direction the end threads are facing. So I prefer to photocopy and rotate the page to where I'm working.
