Sometimes known as the Crested Screamer and closely related to Geese. These birds have a monogamous relationship that can last a life time. When in courtship both birds will give out loud calls that are said to be heard up to two miles away hence the name Screamer. For the large size and their partly webbed feet these birds are surprisingly good swimmers. Can be found in Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina in grasslands and cultivated fields feeding on seeds, leafs, and occasionally small animals.

Water rails are more often heard than seen. Related to Moorhens, they are very secretive birds living and breeding in freshwater wetlands. Their distinctive calls are often compared to piglet squeals.

Considered Vulnerable by BirdLife International and only easily distinguished from the closely related and formerly conspecific Chestnut-backed Tanager (Tangara preciosa) by the black back, this species is generally poorly known, although it seems to be one the of the few tanagers to perform seasonal migrations. The species’ overall range stretches from Espírito Santo south to Rio Grande do Sul, in southeast Brazil, although there is only one definite record from the last-named state. It is largely restricted to coastal sand-plain forest and littoral scrub, and the species also visits gardens and orchards. Seasonal displacements occur in Rio de Janeiro, where its arrival coincides with the ripening of certain fruits, and the Black-backed Tanager is also more common in São Paulo during the austral winter, which season has produced all of the available records in Espírito Santo. This one was photographed in São Paulo.

Primula is a genus of mainly herbaceous flowering plants in the family Primulaceae. They include the familiar wildflower of banks and verges, the primrose (P. vulgaris). Other common species are P. auricula (auricula), P. veris (cowslip) and P. elatior (oxlip). These species and many others are valued for their ornamental flowers. They have been extensively cultivated and hybridised - in the case of the primrose, for many hundreds of years. Primula are native to the temperate northern hemisphere, south into tropical mountains in Ethiopia, Indonesia and New Guinea, and in temperate southern South America. Almost half of the known species are from the Himalayas. Primula has about 500 species in traditional treatments, and more if certain related genera are included within its circumscription. Primula is a complex and varied genus, with a range of habitats from alpine slopes to boggy meadows. Plants bloom mostly during the spring, with flowers often appearing in spherical umbels on stout stems arising from basal rosettes of leaves; their flowers can be purple, yellow, red, pink, blue, or white. Some species show a white mealy bloom (farina) on various parts of the plant. Many species are adapted to alpine climates. 4424
The sculpture was constructed by the Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrázabal at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. Its exaggerated size is said to emphasize human vulnerability and helplessness.
The sculpture also was meant to convey emotions related to injustice, loneliness, sadness and torture.
The work has a base of iron and concrete, and stands 11 metres (36 ft) tall. Funded by Corporación Pro Antofagasta, a local booster organization, the sculpture was inaugurated on 28 March 1992.
It has since become a point of interest for tourists traveling Route 5, which forms part of the Pan-American Highway.
Rock Ptarmigan is related to but much less abundant than the Willow Ptarmigan that also occurs in the areas of Canada’s Northwest Territories that we visited. The only Rock Ptarmigan we saw were at some late-lying snowbanks beside the Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway. They were there for purposes of camouflage, since they had not yet molted to their brownish summer breeding plumage. Rock Ptarmigan is the official bird of Nunavut, the territory to the east of NWT (from which it was split in 1999). This species also occurs in Eurasia.
A Museum of Liverpool exhibit,
The boiler of LMR, ( Liverpool and Manchester Railway ) loco " Lion " is foreground.
The LOR ran between 1888 and 1956, and was demolished 1957.
This area of the Museum is very dark, possibly to put emphasis on the carriage lighting... so it isn't a massive stretch to shoot and make it night time...
"Lion" and the LOR probably never met in reality, though i am by no means certain about that, but using Lion as a foreground made sense to me, them both being Railway related, and possibly why they are positioned so in the hall.

They have four long, slender sepals and four shorter, broader petals; in many species, the sepals are bright red and the petals purple (colours that attract the hummingbirds that pollinate them), but the colours can vary from white to dark red, purple-blue, and orange. A cherry blossom is a flower of many trees of genus Prunus. The most well-known species is the Japanese cherry, Prunus serrulata, which is commonly called sakura. They are widely distributed, especially in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere including Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Mainland China, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Myanmar, Thailand and West Siberia. Along with the chrysanthemum, the cherry blossom is considered the national flower of Japan. Japan has a wide variety of cherry blossoms (sakura); well over 200 cultivars can be found there. Why is it I always have ideas/stories related to my pictures but then it becomes impossible to write them down?
At school I was pretty good at writing, I even won some prizes! It's only been in the last few years, I've stopped writing, you know... we are always so busy/stressed/tired *rolls her eyes*
And it's frustrating, all those thoughts, feelings, ideas, dreams bottled up, even the thought process behind my decors and pictures, I shall make it a New Year Resolution along with the gym, new job, getting in touch with old friends, more sleep... and less screen time to read and write more, easy... isn't it?!
Yes, there was an idea behind this scene... Christmas Day is far gone, but in Spain, most of the kids, and adults are still looking forward "The Epiphany", or as we call it Día de Reyes (the Three Wise Men); so here some presents had been left to be opened the 6th of January in the morning.
I just wanted to recreate a very early morning, with kids excited around the Christmas tree opening their presents, as the parents smile at their joy and happiness while having breakfast sitting on the livingroom's floor <3

Related to the shelduck, this pale brown and grey goose has distinctive dark brown eye-patches and contrasting white wing patches in flight. It was introduced as an ornamental wildfowl species and has escaped into the wild, now successfully breeding in a feral state.

The Crater Mine in North Death Valley, Ca. has been mined twice for sulfur although significant amounts of gypsum and sinter are also present. The source of the sulfur is from hydrothermal alteration related to the vapor phase of a hot spring system feeding up through limestones and dolomites.
