Dipper - Cinclus Cinclus
aka Water Ouzel
Dippers are members of the genus Cinclus in the bird family Cinclidae, named for their bobbing or dipping movements. They are unique among passerines for their ability to dive and swim underwater.
They have a characteristic bobbing motion when perched beside the water, giving them their name. While under water, they are covered by a thin, silvery film of air, due to small bubbles being trapped on the surface of the plumage.
Dippers are found in suitable freshwater habitats in the highlands of the Americas, Europe and Asia. In Africa they are only found in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. They inhabit the banks of fast-moving upland rivers with cold, clear waters, though, outside the breeding season, they may visit lake shores and sea coasts.
The high haemoglobin concentration in their blood gives them a capacity to store oxygen greater than that of other birds, allowing them to remain underwater for thirty seconds or more, whilst their basal metabolic rate is approximately one-third slower than typical terrestrial passerines of similar mass. One small population wintering at a hot spring in Suntar-Khayata Mountains of Siberia feeds underwater when air temperatures drop below −55 °C (−67 °F).
Dippers are completely dependent on fast-flowing rivers with clear water, accessible food and secure nest-sites. They may be threatened by anything that affects these needs such as water pollution, acidification and turbidity caused by erosion. River regulation through the creation of dams and reservoirs, as well as channelization, can degrade and destroy dipper habitat.
Dippers are also sometimes hunted or otherwise persecuted by humans for various reasons. The Cyprus race of the white-throated dipper is extinct. In the Atlas Mountains dippers are claimed to have aphrodisiacal properties. In parts of Scotland and Germany, until the beginning of the 20th century, bounties were paid for killing dippers because of a misguided perception that they were detrimental to fish stocks through predation on the eggs and fry of salmonids.

I thought I'd try somewhere new to walk this weekend. Melbourne is under some pretty strict Covid lockdown regulations at the moment, so finding new places to take photographs within 5km from home is a real struggle. I inadvertently strayed into the Tirhatuan Wetlands. To be honest, I'm not even sure if it was open to the public. It was a lot of walking in ankle deep water, through some pretty uninspiring landscape. This gum tree was about the only thing worth photographing in an hour of walking.

For us this has become a more or less familiar scene. The 31st of December is a very bad day for our four fur balls. Even though regulations have become stricter, the whole day is filled with the (stupendous) sounds of all kinds of fireworks going off. They have to put up with it, but are very agitated all day long and don't get any sleep at all. So this is what we get on New Year's Day! Cats catching up on their sleep in all kinds of positions and places.
Toos and I, Pebbel, Pip, Poeka and Billy wish all of you a very happy and healthy 2016!

A cut flower arrangement with multiple flowers from a single plant called 'Three's A Crowd'. The difficult part about the arrangements is keeping the flowers in good shape after being removed from the live plant for three days.
The American Orchid Society judges not only award individual plants, but also cut flower arrangements, single flower, multiple flowers from a single plant, and multiple flower genera meaning from different plants.
This arrangement is in the category of multiple flower from a single plant, in this case from a Phalaenopsis orchid plant. Not being a judge makes the layman unfamiliar as to why one arrangement would win over another, but there are rules and regulations covering everything.
The arrangement won first place over many other arrangements in the same category.

17 Aug 2019. A Rhincodon typus species whale shark carcass weighing five tonnes was found floating in the waters of Tanjung Tohor Saturday morning before being taken by fishermen to the Parit Jawa Fishermen’s Jetty.
According to press report, the cause of death was unknown. The carcass will be sent to the Turtle and Marine Ecosystem Centre (Tumec) in Rantau Abang, Terengganu for post-mortem.
In Malaysia, whale sharks are listed as threatened species under the Fisheries (Control of Endangered Species of Fish) Regulations 1999, Fisheries Act 1985.

Floating wreck in operation
Fort-Dauphin (Madagascar) - I stayed in Fort-Dauphin for a dozen days. My hotel was not far away, so I passed daily near the old French port where many floating wrecks were systematically moored. Some were in such a state that I wondered how they could be let out to sea?
Certainly, these coasters are content to sail along the East coast between Fort-Dauphin and Tamatave in three or four days. But it's more than enough to sink. In any case, these goods transports would not be authorized to enter the territorial waters of European countries. Here, in navigation as in everything else, the regulations are more flexible and can be easily circumvented.
The ship in the photo is frankly lacking in maintenance. That said, there is still enough steel and it is not tomorrow that rust will pierce the hull. But when we leave a ship in such a state we can legitimately wonder about the level of wear on the other critical parts.

Because of safety regulations in Bulgaria, tank trains with RID class 2 and 3 products must have an empty safety wagon separating the locomotive from the train. Hence, trains with tank cars only are a rare sight.
Here, though, we have a train of sunflower oil where the above rule does not apply so there is no empty car to spoil the view.

Warum wurden die Nummern 18 und 20 nicht vergeben ? Und dafür 19 zweimal ?
Aberglaube vielleicht ?
There are no rules and regulations for perfect composition. If there were we would be able to put all the information into a computer and would come out with a masterpiece. We know that's impossible. You have to compose by the seat of your pants.

There were many moments in the last few months which made me feel like I was mindlessly following external concepts in different areas of life. I'm still feeling that way, except for the fact, that once I've realised it, it doesn't feel as mindlessly anymore.

Wynwood can feel wild—color spilling from every wall, creativity tipping toward chaos. But that’s part of the draw. It’s loud, brash, untamed. Then you spot the cruiser, steady on the curb. A reminder that the canvas has borders, the spectacle has a frame. Regulation parked in front of rebellion. For the visitor, it’s balance—Miami’s energy on full blast, with order close enough to keep you safe.
Proving that the PSVAR regulations, while necessary in ensuring access to buses, saw off many older buses that had years of service still left in them, here is 32036, a Volvo B7TL new to Southampton in 2000 and now in its 22nd year of service. It is pictured on the 501 Portland Coaster, which only operates with one bus this year. Usually, at least one of these older buses can be found on the Bridport to Bovington X52!

Psychological Torture
I took a break from most posting, just after we left Wyoming, in October. I hope you enjoyed the Holidays.
Our first full day of Boondocking in Arizona; we had an airplane fly directly over our heads, as we sat out having my morning coffee. It was only a few hundred feet above us; well below FFA regulations. We get the same treatment here, as we did in Wyoming, driving through Colorado, and New Mexico. If you look, listen and read through my photostream; you will see, example after example.
The photo of the plane you see; was taken Christmas week. It was the morning after, I flipped off a low flying airplane, that keeps buzzing Koda and I. I was taking Koda out to use the bathroom, in the morning. We were out a few minutes, and we get buzzed, directly over our heads, by an extremely low flying plain. I flipped the pilot off, as he flew over. The next morning; I go to take Koda out, this plane/camper is parked, so it’s the first thing I see, as I opened my door. It had to do some maneuvering, to be placed where it was. We are currently boondocking in Arizona again. This is a good example of our Government’s, and the types of people it enlist, to conduct these types of PsyOps, on US Citizens. This is right out of our Military Play Books; the 1st thing I see, the next morning, is a plane with the words “Flipping The Bird”. If you think this is a coincidence; look through my photostream.
This is just one of the many examples, of how our Government, it’s Agencies, and Corporate America, keeps those brave enough to expose the Truth; in check. Seriously; who has this kind of coordination, speed, communication, and financing?
This is one aspect of a Targets life. You add to that, constant harassment, mobbing, intimidation, manipulation, Gas Lighting, and Street Theater; it leads to overwhelming psychological torture, abuse, and isolation. Once the Target is isolated, in their homes, their residence; they are bombarded with more Psychological Torture, Electronic Weapons Assaults, Noise Campaigns, Sleep Deprivation. Again, right out of the CIA, Military Play Books.
Seriously, this plane being placed there, the following morning, after I flip a pilot off; is not a coincidence. It was pulled in on a flatbed trailer, by a red pickup. This happens to thousands of average Americans, on US Soil. What most have in common; is the courage to stand up to Corporations, Our Government, it’s Corrupt Agencies, and Law Enforcement. Am I saying all are corrupt; of course not. But, those with most of the power are. Those with the most influence, are.
The mainstream media; has reported on US Diplomats and other Government Officials, being hit with Direct Energy Weapons. The CIA pretends it doesn’t know the origins, and continues to point the finger towards Russia. The CIA, FBI, or the mainstream media; have failed to report, the thousands of US Citizens, on US Soil, being daily Targets of these Direct Energy Weapons.
Russia, is not using Direct Energy Weapons on US Citizens, on US Soil.
Russia is not using US Military Aircraft, to Buzz, Intimidate, Harass and Isolate; US Citizens, on US Soil.
Russia, is not Mobbing, Harassing, Intimidating, and Gas Lighting; US Citizens, on US Soil.
Russia, is not retaliating against, US Whistleblowers, of the US Government, it’s Agencies, Corporate America, and Law Enforcement.
Russia is not Isolating US Citizens; so they can be Bombarded with Electronic Weapons in their own homes, their residence, place of work, or at public venues.
Russia is not Harassing, Intimidating, Mobbing, Gas Lighting, using Direct Energy Weapons, on US Veterans; in VA Clinics, or VA Hospitals; because they expose the incompetence, corruption and waste.
The Plane you see in this image, is gone. It has been replaced by others and others; that continue the cycle of egregious, hate, ignorance and Torture. In its space now; is a 5th wheel camper, truck, jeep and cargo trailer. They follow us from camp to camp. Our camp is completely surrounded by ignorance, hate, sociopaths and criminals. These people turn off the gas valve to our refrigerator; when we go on long walks. Or, at night, while we sleep, go to appointments, or get groceries. These same people knock on the back of our Motorhome; as I watch a movie, or try to sleep. These people follow us in their vehicles, ATV, eBikes, motorcycles, airplanes and helicopters. They leave dog food (that is not Koda’s brand), on the floor and by our solar panels; when we dump and fill tanks, or leave for VA appointments and groceries.
The last Dogie Day Care we used; abused Koda. When I went to pick him up the last time, he couldn’t wait to get in the car. He flinched when I went to pet him. He ignored me all the way back to camp. When I went to drop him off again, after that. He whimpered when we pulled in. He whined at the door, pulled on the leash. When the woman came to the door; he urinated and trembled. She said, “he will be fine, when he gets in with the other dogs”. I said, “something has happened, I’m not leaving him here”, I didn’t. I had to reschedule my VA appointment.
This is the America we live in, don’t let anyone tell you it’s not. I have a lot more to catch you up on.
Thanks for visiting our photostream.
