The iconic Hagia Sophia is a sight to behold at any time, while dawn adds a special tint.

Mount Rundle is a prominent landmark near Banff in the Canadian Rockies. Sunkissed the mountain seems to wake up from its slumber near Two Jack Lake.

The distant horizon with what felt to me like fire in the sky and clouds. Bursting with reds, yellows and a tiny but of blue as the evening dusk sets in the distance. The trees grace the horizon against the red glowing light. This was an experimentation in processing since I had some time to play and stretch my boundaries with colour and vibrancy. The red glow was already in the horizon so I wanted to make that a feature

As every landscape photographer knows, sunrise and sunset are totally unpredictable moments. This evening on the Moraine Lake rock pile, it turned out pretty weird but nonetheless a keeper.

Poppies in summer, surrounded by winter cress. Rye Harbour nature reserve, Sussex.

The low clouds that hung around all evening briefly parted, allowing the setting sun to cast a red glow on the monuments. What an unexpected treat! Monument Valley Tribal Park, Arizona/Utah border.

Monday night we had further gales and heavy rain and although it was much calmer yesterday at dawn there was clearly still much turbulence in the atmosphere - as shown here.

This unusually shaped cloud reminded me of my childhood's spinning top as it quickly sped by the rear of my home in Betws yn Rhos, North Wales.

The 'Volcanic Glow Peak', pictured centre, is Yr Aran 747m (2,450ft) which majestically towers above Nant Gwynant near Llyn Gwynant.

Many millions of years ago it could well have been an active volcano as the varied rock strata within Snowdonia includes Igneous rocks.

Thought in taking and sharing this remarkable 'After Glow' sky effect at 16.15pm, after the sun had just set, was a fitting to my brilliant day.

Like the earlier shot posted we're still in a Northerly airstream as evidenced by the increased snow on the ground and the similar cloud pattern.

The sun had just disappeared behind the hillside and but was still colourfully illuminating the Cumulus Clouds. This was the view looking due West towards Troforth from the front of my home in Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales.

Left home at 6.30am this morning in total darkness, to walk the steep two mile 'Lung Busting' climb to the summit of this hill which overlooks my home in Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales.

I'm just below the Triangulation Point marking its peak of 396m (1,300ft). The early morning weather forecast was favourable and I could clearly see stars through the broken cloud before leaving. Two hours later this was my reward!

I'm looking due East towards the distant Clwydian Mountain Range over which the sun is just appearing.

Very much hope you all enjoy the rest of today and are still keeping safe and well too!!

The last rays of the sun as it cast's a red glow over the hedgerows and trees. As you look down the hillside you can see the Bristol Channel in the distance and on the horizon the English coast.

Back in time again to this day last December. This was the view from our rear garden at 8.00am. The sun was still behind the nearby hillside but was illuminating the evaporating aircraft vapour trails and the passing Altocumulus Clouds.

Today the weather and sky's poles apart - it's grey, raining and very cold too. Sleet and snow is also forecast for higher ground.

Very much hope you are all still keeping safe and well too.

Last October saw some stunningly beautiful sunsets at home.

This was the scene at 18.30pm on Wednesday 14th October, looking due West towards Troforth, after the sun had just dipped below the horizon.

As we waited for our early morning flight at Barcelona's Airport, a gorgeous sunrise took place. It also showed through the Control Tower.

Beautiful Sunset mixed in with the clouds over Selby North Yorkshire England

This was the scene at 16.30pm on Sunday 10th January 2021 looking due West, from the front of my home, towards Troforth after the sun had much earlier dipped below the hillside.

The mature oak tree silhouetted at sunset, the sky a blaze of red as the sun sinks quickly towards the horizon.

A smoky sunrise at Sumner beach.

Brighton's "i360" glass viewing pod, built by British Airways. Rises to 450ft above Brighton's beach and glows a cool red in the evenings..

Shot with a second-hand Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6 Di LD Macro zoom, at 300mm, f8.

Back in time again to 20.40pm on Saturday 29th May 2021. Just before the sun dipped below the horizon, I took this shot from the front of my home in the village of Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales looking West towards the hamlet of Cefin Isaf.

I used a Tamron 28-300mm lens at 100mm and a Polarising Filter, on a high setting, to mitigate the glare.

Despite once again, being in a cooler Northerly Artic Airflow it had been overcast and raining all day with a cold breeze too. Just before sunset, I could see the clouds clearing from the West - resulting in this beautifully coloured sky. It reminded me of seeing those stunning images of the recent Icelandic Volcanic eruption - hence the title.

Fanad Lighthouse is an iconic working lighthouse at the mouth of Lough Swilly. It has been voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world and it’s easy to see why. This stunning heritage building is the flagship visitor attraction of the Fanad peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty which has much to offer the visitor.

As a child I used to be fascinated by the circular reflective disc that span inside my parents' electric fire which created glowing embers. Last night's sunset evoked these memories.

Hastings in reflection.

As the afternoon sunset filtered through the heavy smoke filled sky it provided a stunning sunset over the Hastings River.

As it stands on the shore of the Hastings River this Plover seemingly shakes away its concerns as it prepares to settle in for the night.

A gap in the clouds reveals the last of the evening sun igniting this mountain near Chamonix, France.

Rushed to get the shot using Canon 5dMk3 70-200 + 2x extender and tripod. Unfortunately I forgot to check the IS was turned off. That along with this being quite a heavy crop means IQ is not all it could be. Nevertneless glad I managed to get a few shots off before the moment passed.

Just back from a great holiday with the family touring quickly through France then on to Verona and Venice, followed by my first visit to the Dolomites and home via Germany. Should have one or two other pics to post!

Hope all of you are having an enjoyable summer.

Alstrom Point provides one of the most memorable, scenic, and widely photographed views of Lake Powell. While the actual hiking at the point is limited, half of the enjoyment of this location is the trip to get there.

Alstrom Point is very remote. Although you can see the city of Page, it will take you between 1.5 to 3 hours to get there. There is no gas along the way. The road is primarily on the Tropic Shale, which can turn to a mud bog after rain or snow. The last mile or two into Alstrom Point is over rough slickrock and not well marked in places.

This eye catching grand view from Alstrom Point looks out over Gunsight Butte, Padre Bay and the immense Lake Powell. You may need a high clearance four wheel drive here. Reaching this viewpoint may also prove a challenge for those without directions. One possible route from Big Water, Utah, begins on Warm Creek Road to Smoky Mountain Road (Rec Road 230). South on Rec Road 264, known to some as Alstrom Point Road; but to the Google folks, its labeled as Romana Mesard Road. A good sense of direction or a bit luck maybe needed on this adventure.

This image is taken at sunset and when leaving the place it went dark very fast and a GPS was needed to find our way back to US89.

I had to de-saturate the reds, because it was all too much.

Image is part of the south-west tour.

Enjoy...

Taken just after rising over the wood at the bottom of my road., hence it is still red.

It will be full tomorrow and is called the Sturgeon moon or Corn moon.

It will also be the last supermoon of 2022, and if lucky you might see the planet Saturn alongside it.

Watching the beach combers doing there thing while taking in the sunset and listening to he surf softly crash behind me. Kind of love this moment and in my minds eye, it has filled the well of what I have missed by being so far from the sea for so long. I can still hear the gulls as they sing.

Just before the Christmas holiday. I find myself draw here quite a bit, mostly because the sunrise are so beautiful from here, but also there is something about the way the buildings are situated that really draw me in...never a shortage of interest for me though.

Jellyfish from "The Dig" Aquarium in Atlantis, Bahamas. A wonderful place!

"The Dig is a series of aquariums located beneath the lobby of the Royal Towers and is the world's largest open air marine habitat. Hundreds of different aquatic species can be spotted in the Dig's various tanks such as angelfish, sharks, manta rays, and various types of jellyfish. The goal of The Dig is to provide guests with a taste of life in the legendary destroyed city of Atlantis. If one observes the bottom of the floors in the different aquariums, wreckage and debris will be scattered about representing the "Lost City of Atlantis." - Wikipedia

September 2008.

This particular sunset was one of the most intriguing I've seen in Melbourne. Immediately after the sun fell below the horizon the clouds reflected this bright reddish fiery hue. But then, just as quickly it was gone.

Seen a shooting star tonight, slip away.

Tomorrow will be another day

Guess it's too late to say the things to you

That you needed to hear me say.

Seen a shooting star tonight

Slip away.

91/365 – PRACTICE - “JUSTICE”

Day 91 of the 365 Journey.

After weeks of despair, Justice finally realizes how to “turn on” this newly discovered energy….well kinda. “Sigh…what good is this? (Sarcastic tone) Really? WOW I can turn things red. That’s my power?!” Another frustrated sigh… “How am I going to stop crime with this? Turn the green light red so the bad guys hit the breaks?

“Ahhhhh, There’s gotta be more to this.”

…to be continued.
