During Lent, the Thurgovian village of Ermatingen celebrates its Groppenfasnacht, or fish carnival. The carnival gets its name from the main character of the event, the Gropp, a fish, 10-15 cm in length, which is caught only in the Ermatingen area. The Groppenfasnacht is the latest carnival in the world, three weeks before Easter. Some members of the official committee seem to wear a #RedFez. Spooky.

For Leroy's birthday happy hour we went to 219 and then Red Fez

No, this is something I caught at the back of the bar inside the Old Towne Pub.

This is a frame capture from HD video, using the Canon EOS Rebel T6, with the Canon 18-55mm zoom lens.

I intend on using this shot as part of my opening titles to the 2023 Doo Dah Queen Tryouts video. I am still sorting through material and right now I have no idea how long the video will be, or how many parts it will be split up into. This was my first time working at a venue different from the original American Legion Hall. It was small, cramped, dark, with poor ventilation, often forcing me to turn off my camera, as it was beginning to overheat. And then there were no places for me to recharge my batteries, so I ended up missing a lot of material as a result.

But shots like this will make up for it, if necessary.

Here is another view the Red Fez, a bar located right next to the Lucky Lounge on west 5th street. The glowing dome you see here is the same one that I showed in yesterday's post.

Lauren was singing her heart out during our short photographic stay at the Red Fez. There are many bars / venues in Austin. On any given night, there are many live performances around town. Here I purposely did a long exposure which produced a motion blur of the performers.

Count Smokula (a Doo Dah veteran from its beginnings) is being interviewed for someone's channel, I don't know which one. He had a hard time speaking and being heard because to the camera's immediate right was a band from the Rock and Roll Preservation Society, and they were practicing, loudly. I could barely capture with my small condenser microphone on my camera what he was saying. You can find out for yourself by clicking on the link below to my YouTube channel:

The Red Fez in not a very large establishment. Here, you can se the bar and the small stage from one of the booths. The interior is dark and richly decorated.

I'm not sure how much I can explain about this one, but it's located along US11 between Ft. Payne and Collinsville, AL.

Atash, a name which evokes the life-giving ritual fire of ancient Persia

Despite the heavy and constant down pours (I am not complaing, I am loving it) I decided to head out and catch some good music. This band is called Atash, one word, rhythm, check have to check them out here. On a side note, the lead singer is the dad of a really good friend of mines, Sarah, and I am probably gonna get yelled at because her dad made it to the 365 Project before she did..aye !!

A mural currently existing in Providence. I was sad to see that the Red Fez may no longer be in existence. Some true personal history inside that bar..

this is a great game! there's a mini-pinball game inside and in the back, stewie pinball, that you can activate if you get stewie to light up.
