Life is a Rainbow - Red

Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments

Calla-Lily at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

Peonies growing amongst wild grasses. I think this Peony is the variety 'Red Charm' but not too sure!

What the Peony Means

The peony is often associated with several meanings that include romance and prosperity. It also symbolizes good fortune and happy marriages because the blossoms of the peony flower are round which symbolizes money. The generous look of the peony flower also represents fortune in romance, so add a Peony to a wedding bouquet for a happy marriage! Traditionally, couples that are celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary are given peonies as present.

Another 'fact' for you!

Did you know? The Chinese call Peonies the King of flowers or the Flower Fairy. Peonies were named in honor of Paeon, the physician of the gods.

A tempest in a teapot, a storm in a cup, contained chaos, Paeonia "Red Charm." The only one in bloom at the time, very striking,

"Huge, rich red flowers are made up of a single row of outer petals that surrounds an explosion of smaller and heavily ruffled petals which keeps expanding as the flower opens" (www.whiteflowerfarm.com)

New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx, NYC -- May 18, 2018

Using peonies alone was going to be a challenge. How could I create a display that would have some impact, even when the flowers were in tight, insignificant bud?

The solution to was create a landscape with sleek black vases and allow stem and leaf a chance to play with the shapes of the vases until the blooms exploded into a ball of red.

Blooms in early season a deep red color about 36 in. I'm going to go back next week and see how it is coming along.
