Periphyseon (On the Division of Nature) is a dialogue between a master and a pupil about the four divisions of nature:
that which creates and is not created;
that which is created and creates;
that which is created and does not create;
that which is neither created nor creates.
The method of reasoning is the syllogism: a basic model for logical reasoning. Here we see the model simplified and captured in opposites (contrariae) by Honorius of Autun in the twelfth century, in his Clavis physicae.

My wife thinks I have lost the plot, but this simple work holds more meaning for me than any
art created with intellectual reasoning and perfect technique.
As silly as it may seem this old crumpled rag placed unceremoniously on top of a pole offers a doorway to rediscovering a way to sense an object through instinct. If I painted a perfect picture of
this object - or photographed it - I would create a work that would remove the reality of the object. This would allow you to suppress any sense of uncertainty in what you look at, and, because I believe an artist gets recall of an older direct way of sensing by instinct, such an image would be working to transform that original sensation.
Using traditional technique to create art helps your mind ignore the power that all objects possess to provoke an inherent way of looking from the depth of your mind. Suppressing this original experience is what the established ways of creating art came into existence to help us do. Our minds now work all the time to stop us rediscovering our original inherent way of sensing the world, and I believe an artist should try to recreate this lost view.
I would tell you about this image but then perhaps I might be giving away trade secrets
*how does it go?* LOOK AT THE BIG GUY
if you don't know how to look at the bigger image than you are not a very curious person now are you?

As regards a carpenter's pencil, my reasoning is as follows. The old masters, what would they have drawn with? Certainly not with Faber B, BB, BBB &c. &c., but with a rough piece of graphite. The implement Michelangelo and Durer used was perhaps very similar to a carpenter's pencil. But I wasn't there and don't know. This I do know, that with a carpenter's pencil one can achieve intensities differently than with those fine Fabers.

Major Martin Gossauer, the IHQ editor-in-chief, was one of The Salvation Army's participants in the scriptural reasoning event
The increasing complexity of software applications and architectures in Internet services challenge the reasoning of operators tasked with diagnosing and resolving outages and degradations as they arise. This talk will give a glimpse into how other fields handle incident response and paint a picture of what active steps we can take to support engineers in those uncertain and ambiguous scenarios. Examples include fields such as military, surgical trauma units, space transportation, aviation and air traffic control, and wildland firefighting.
Despite higher focus on how failures can be prevented through more robust and fault-tolerant design of these systems, a dearth of research explores the cognitive challenges engineers face when those preventative designs fail and they are left to think and react to scenarios that hadn’t been imagined, much like in fields outside of technology.

Some minds are closed, locked and beyond reasoning.
They will forever be stuck in that little box, devoid of change, creativity and a multitude of possibilities.
They are locked.
