The reboot controller (far upper corner of photograph) is an ESP8266 device which sequences the shutdown, power-off, and restart of the Raspberry Pi used as a Home Assistant controller. It leverages some circuitry built into a home-made UPS mounted on the same rack. The reboot is triggered by an Adafruit IO web page.

I've been playing with a raspberry pi. So far, set up with standard os, shh, wifi, vnc, webserver, webcam server.

Notes, external usb hub stops everything working. Luckily the webcam seems to run off the pis own usb port as does mini wifi dongle. I am running it headless and editing via ssh from the terminal and using Microsoft Remote Desktop Client for mac.

Logitech usb camera drilled to fit on tripod with Raspberry Pi. Without drilling the base of the camera it is very difficult to position it. This makes for a fairly cheap but very configurable webcam setup.
