Couldn't resist a trip out for this one. There was an inkling on the EM Rail Gen group around 15:00 where an 0Z20 Worksop to Kellingley Colliery was noted as a train 'of possible interest', especially with Worksop being the home to Harry Needles class 20s. 20901 and 20118 were noted heading north around 16:00 and I debated whether to leave work early and catch the pair around Kellingley, but instead opted to capture them at a location I've not visited for around two years, partly due to lockdown.
The return 6Z20 17:52 Kellingley Colliery to Chaddesden with a rake of box wagons which had been brought up from Ely in April 2019.
Whilst I know 20118 has worked previously out of Tinsley about 2-3 miles up the road, I'm not sure about the leading loco who's previous guises included D8101 and 20101. It certainly seems to have started its life north of the border in Scotland.
Excuse me....."Sweep Job" GS2 of the Finger Lakes Railroad performs its Sunday ritual, running to Solvay, NY in the morning and back to Geneva in the afternoon. The perfect setting for the weekend rail fan. Here we see the job east out of Auburn, NY with a handful cars sweeping leaves of the rails as it rolls along.

This is a hay raking implement in infrared. Wheel rakes are the most common and popular type of rake in the United States. They are also the lowest cost rake because there is no PTO (power take-off) or hydraulics needed to drive the rake mechanism.
Origins of the hay rake: One Ohio man with a passion for invention helped shape our community and the world. Edward Huber was just 26 when he earned his first of more than 100 patents. This blacksmith and inventor created the revolving wood hay rake in 1863. Huber moved to Ohio with his wife and started building and marketing the hay rake in 1865. More than 200,000 hay rakes flew off the shelves as farmers snapped up this invention which allowed one worker to accomplish what used to take seven or more people. This image is a modern version of the hay rake.

Sandhill Crane Dance
Monte Vista NWR, Monte Vista, Colorado
In this dance move called the "Jump-rake", the crane facing right was likely female as it is typically she who demonstrates the "Wing-spread-forward-tilt" in response to the male jumping into the air and kicking out ...

Taken back in 1997, Google Earth now shows this abandoned house as nothing but a heap of debris, having collapsed sometime before 2017. Their most recent "street View" images show the field full of round hay bales. On my last visit to Nova Scotia (before Covid), there was a grove of Elm Trees about 400 yards off the right side of the image... the tallest one containing an eagle's nest that was reoccupied for years each nesting season. On one visit I picked up a nice collection of eagle feathers in the tall grass below the nest and was going to bring them home. They were confiscated by a US Customs inspector at the border crossing in Calais, Maine, who said that I should have known better than to try to bring prohibited animal material into the country. I figured that if an eagle sheds a feather... the bird has "given it up" and it was free for the taking. The inspector got cranky when I asked... if an eagle had defecated on me while I was under the tree... would I have had my jacket confiscated if not cleaned before stopping at customs??
The old hay rake is probably gone now, maybe enjoying a second life as a country lawn decoration.
This image was copied from a Kodachrome 25 slide using a Nikon D3500 camera, 55mm f/3.5 Micro-Nikkor, fitted with a Nikon 4T close-up lens, a 1.6x Sigma achromatic close-up lens on the 4T. Exposure was 1 second at f/11, ISO set at 100. The light source was a 13.5 watt LED bulb (5000K).
