His second hand shoe shop is held up by the wall of the Tata Parsi Agiary, and on the corner of Main Hill Road and Chinchpokli Road inner lane connecting to De Monte Street , he lives in the tenements slums of Gonsalves Wadi..
I have known him since we first came to Bandra to stay at Kamla Bai Sadan De Monte street , he has seen my kids grow he has seen me too,as I came at this junction to start my early morning boozing at Irani cafe across the road , or at Yacht the earliest opening booze joint next St Andrew Church, or later at Casbah every night boozing my liver away .. and than as both Irani Cafe and Casbah closed down I moved to another joint close to his cobbler shop Canara booze joint..
So in silence he watched me my life my fall my trepidation my agony my mental chaos than I gave up booze completely he saw me in new light I took up photography as a alternative to booze , a very intoxicating option and when I turned blogger in 2005 I began shooting his Olde Shoe Shoppe as I called it , we were both friends admirers of late Head Priest Mr Vaziddar , that bound us completely along with Marziya my grand daughter about 18 months old I passed his shop to take Marziya to her nursery, though I moved away about 5 years back to Bandra Reclamation he continued to be my friend and again as I pass him everyday to my workplace he feels happy I shoot him his family..
I internationalized him his shoes , he did great business when guys bought shoes from him to hit college principals politicians but now the fad has gone even second hand shoes are expensive to throw on the face of scams and corruption.
Now his clients street kids, drinking kids from the nearby pub and Bollywood hung up guys girls by his stuff.Even Bollywood strugglers who want to step into Sharukhs shoes buy footwear from him..
His collection is amazing and filmy .. all old shoes from film production he buys in bulk, but he buys a shoe trunk , Amitjis shoes from Hum , Silsila , and most of his hit movies lie with him , on the other side but not facing each other are Kolhapuri chappals of Mr Rajesh Khanna including the flat mojdi like leather slip ons, Mithundas old films including some fancy stuff of Disco Dancer ..
Crazy boots with heavy elevators of Govindaji Chichi.. all dancing boots , he has stuff of Mr Mogambo late Amridsh Puri Saab.. , shiny suede boots of Mr Rajnikants old Hindi films , and the list is far too long..
Than he has the lady heartthrobs stuff too Rekhajis high heel shoes are much in demand , even pretty cute slippers worn by Madhuriji, Raveenijis shoes in snakeskin , he has most of the stuff of Karishmaji , though he is in a deal with a filmy second hand stuff dealer he hopes to get some stuff of Deepika and Katrina Kaif too.
His hottest selling items are hidden from view and he calls them Being Human collection each pair generously autographed by Salman Khan , Salman Khan Bhai as he calls him loves this shoe seller and his family and has bailed him out financially too, both his grand children study through a grant by Salim Saab..
He calls Salim Saab his God and has pleaded to tell Arbaz bhai to give him the trunk of Dabbang footwear , young girls want Sonakshi Sinhas slippers , and Salman bhais lucky box office hit stuff too.
Sharukhs shoes his boots are in demand but it is Salman Bhai the Bandra dude do gooder they all want.. he has advance orders of Salman bhais new films like Ready..
This was a blank post till night and now I have added my Bollywood angst..
And this is utter bull shit of my mind some of it I mean
365 ends.
And this is exactly how I feel. Its like the last day of school before summer vacations. Like a long awaited holiday. Starting today. I have plans and ways to spend my summer (If we are still speaking that metaphor). But first, a recap.
The reason I did a 365 was because I wasn't making enough use of my camera. My pictures told the story - I was doing the same thing over and over and over again. So I took the leap.
The first month was a breeze. New ideas, new pictures. I following months brought in the burn. I was in a rut again. Same stuff, same pictures. I did learn a lot. Indoor lighting, macro, street, portraiture, smoke photography, sunsets, levitation, lightroom, to name a few (yes, even baby pictures and flower pictures).
My pictures were featured lot on the web during this time.
-I got to write a tutorial online. Read it here.

-Covered my first wedding ceremony (the one that I got paid for). See the pictures here
-Got on an invite from Getty Images.
After 365 pictures in the last year and 2 months, I'm not even close to understanding what type of photography I like most. I discovered Street Photography which comes the closest to qualify as my favourite genre. Basically anything involving people and portraiture.
And I hated 365. It was such a royal pain in the neck. More so because its a commitment that's online. So I had people breathing down on my neck (literally!) to upload pictures. Most of the time I didn't feel creative and it shows. But in all I think even if I managed 20 awesome pictures in the last year or so, that's cool with me.
That brings me to the important question. What now?
I don't know the answer to that but I'll definitely be taking more pictures. And the blog would get a revamp soon. (Yes! I do have a blog --> The Lensor: Tumblr). With more pictures and a proper theme (Something that a sweet friend has been bugging me about from a long time and something that I've been procrastinating due to the 365. Now that the 365 is over I don't really see a reason why that shouldn't happen). So a lot more exploring. More words on the blog and more pictures.
Yeah! That's all. Thanks to some people.

We took about 20 shots and then decided that we'll work with whatever we got. By the time this was done, Rajnikant was one shirt wet and we had filled up the water in the bottle for a second time.
Numerous lighting techniques and some more shots later we got this.
Someday with probably a strobe, I'll have a better shot than this. Till then, we make do with this.

Statue of Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel will be installed at the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat which will be double the length of Statue of Liberty in America. Talking with the media persons here today BJP Kisan Morcha National Secretary Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that the way Statue of Liberty represents America the Statue of Unity will represent India. He said that the statue will be a symbol of the immense contribution of Sardar Patel and his legendary persona. He said that Patel unified the 562 princely states of India after which the statue will be named as the Statue of Unity. Grewal said that every household and every person in the state will be associated with this project which will be source of inspiration for the unified India and also for the generations to come. He said that this is a dream project of Gujarat Chief Minister and future Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. He said that BJP Leaders and Workers will collect iron from every household from all villages of India. Grewal said that keeping in view the stature of Sardar Patel the statue will be 182 m (600 ft) high which would be equal to a 60 storey building whereas the Statue of Liberty is 93 m high. Grewal said that Sardar Patel was a farmers leader and the Bardoli Satygraha gave him the name of Sardar. He said that the iron collected from 6.5 lakh farmers of the country will be used in erecting Statue of Unity. He said that the national level, state level and district level, Iron Collection Coordination Committees have been formed by Om Prakash Dhankar our National Chief to collect iron from the households of farmers. He said that these committees will include people from all the walks of life. He said that the committees will have complete record of the iron collected from different places. Grewal said that at the national level MP Thavarchand Gehlot from Madhya Pradesh, former union minister and MP Bihar Hukumdev Narayan Yadav, former minister Sarjuram from Jharkhand, Dr K Laxman form Andhra Pradesh, Sudhir Muntigavkar from Maharashtra, former MP Vijay Pal Tomar from Uttar Pradesh and Hridyanath Singh from Delhi will coordinate with our National President BJP Kisan Morcha Om Prakash Dhankar. He said that the state coordinators of committees include Subhash Barala from Haryana, Jagtar Saini from Punjab, former minister Jairam Thakur from Himachal, Purushottam Mahajan from Chandigarh, Dr Nirmal Singh from Jammu and Kashmir and former union minister Bachchi Singh Rawat from Uttarakhand. Grewal said that the work on collecting iron will start on October 31 on the day of birth anniversary of Sardar Patel and will continue till Republic Day on January 26, 2014. BJP Kisan Morcha National Secretary and Parbhari Himachal Pardesh Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that Madhya Pradesh has progressed and the poor prospered under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
Talking with the media persons at the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport at Indore today, Grewal highlighted various schemes undertaken by Shivraj Singh Chauhan for the welfare of the people.
He said that our Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan made provisions to give loan at zero percent interest to farmers. Vote us back to power and we promise to give you rice, salt and wheat for Rs 1 per kg.
Grewal said that we have also brought a new scheme, any child that goes to a government college after completely 12th Standrad he/she will be given a smart phone at the time of admission, so that they are not left behind in this era of technology.
He said that along with the 108 ambulance facility in case of emergency, we have also started a new scheme of providing medical facility to the animals of the farmers. BJP party have decided to start a 109 animal ambulance facility.
Asking the people of Madhya Pardesh to cast their vote in the favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior party leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that Madhya Pradesh is going to polls on November 25, and results would be announced on December 8, along with those in New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram.

BJP Kisan Morcha National Secretary and Parbhari Himachal Pardesh Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that Gujarat chief minister and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had laid the foundation of the Sardar Patel statue in Kevadiya. He said that it set to cost a whopping Rs 2,074 crore the statue is being touted as the tallest statue ever at 182 metres which is twice the height of the Statue of Liberty. Talking with the media persons here today, Grewal stated that India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also known as the Iron Man of India and he helped unify the country after the British granted independence to India.
He said that with a view to providing unique opportunity to the entire population of this vast country to contribute iron liberally and whole-heartedly towards preparing the world’s largest Statue “STATUE OF UNITY” , the State level and District level Iron Collection Cooperation and Coordination Committees in the Northern region of the country will be constituted as per the directions received from Om Parkash Dhankar, Statue of Unity National Coordinator, Iron Collection Cooperation Committee.
He said that about 182 mts tall statue of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabha Bhai Patel , the largest statue of the world , under the name STATUE OF UNITY will be prepared from the iron collected for this purpose from the whole country. Sardar Patel was an architect of united India who also took active part in the Freedom Movement of the country.
Grewal said that the State level Committees would be set up between 11 to 15 November. This Committees would have members up to 11,15 or 21 according to the size , population and requirement of the particular State. The District Coordinators would be appointed by 15th November. All District Coordinators would be invited to attend the meeting of their respective State Committees. The first meeting of the State Committee would be convened between 16-22 November. State BJP President and organizing Secretary have been directed by the National Leadership to attend the meeting .
Grewal said that the State level Committees would be entrusted the task of monitoring the working of the District Committees. A coordination centre would also be set up by the State Committee to monitor and look after the activities of the Districts, Grewal said.
He further said that for this purpose Block level Committees would not be formed but the Block Mandal Presidents would be included in the District Committee in order to provide representation to the people of Blocks for this noble cause. However a coordination cell be set up at District level so as to keep detail of the iron collected and received . The first meeting of the District Committee would be held by the first week of December.
Grewal further said that all the National leaders of the Kisan Morcha, including himself, are making strenuous efforts to form these committees in order to mobilize the public in this respect all over India.

BJP Kisan Morcha All India Secretary and Parbhari Himachal Pradesh Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that in an attempt to make the construction of the Sardar Patel statue in Gujarat a movement, the Himachal Pradesh State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party also declared it had formed a coordination committee for an iron collection drive. In a press conference here today, Grewal said that the former BJP party president and senior MLA Jairam Thakur, will head the coordination committee. He said that efforts were being made to spread the party cadre network to all 20,118 villages and 3243 panchayats of the Himachal State. The Himachal State Parbhari said that all BJP Leaders and workers will collect iron and soil from all Himachal villages and give it "the statue" a Himachal flavour. We will also collect sacred soil from all the famous temples and religious places of our hill State. Grewal said that the process to make the construction a movement began after the Bhoomi Pujan for the memorial on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, by our senior BJP party leader L.K. Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. It was Narendra Modi who conceived this dream project as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
“RUN FOR UNITY”
Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that the hill State Himachal will also organise a “Run for Unity" in all the district headquarters on December 15, the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel under the supervision of Jairam Thakur. He said that the state co-ordinator Jairam Thakur had also released the list of 12 district coordinators and a 21-member State-wide list of team managers. National Secretary Grewal said that there will be a joint workshop for team members from Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Punjab at Chandigarh on December 9. Grewal said that the 182-meter statue with a 58-metre pedestal has been named “Statue of Unity” and will be the tallest in the world. He said that it will be installed on a river island facing the famous Narmada Dam near Bharuch in Gujarat. The Rs. 2500-crore project will take at least about four years to complete. Grewal said that there will be a nationwide campaign to collect iron pieces from more than 6.5 lakh villages of the country, said the BJP.

Talking with the media persons in a press conference at Sant Baba Hazara Singh Academy and IT College, Dera Pathana Batala Grewal Grewal added that the UPA government had given nothing to the nation except poverty, unemployment, inflation, corruption and scandals.
"Congress-led UPA government had proved a failure on all fronts and people will dethrone them in the coming general elections,"he said.
The BJP leader expressed concern over the reports of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa following the footsteps of Robert Vadera regarding purchasing government lands.
Grewal demanded that Punjab government should hold a thorough probe into the land deals of Bajwa, his younger brother Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa and his sister-in law.
He said most of the ministers of Manmohan Singh cabinet were involved in various scams and they would not be able to face the masses before the parliamentary elections. He claimed that the people wanted a change in the government at the Centre. "The SAD-BJP alliance will win all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab in the upcoming general polls,"he added.

BJP Kisan Morcha National Secretary Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that in order to impart training and to acquaint the members with the collection of iron for the Statue of Unity, the whole country had been divided into seven zones. Talking with the media persons here today, he said that a workshop in each region would be held from 24th November onwards by our National Coordinator Iron Collection Committee Om Prakash Dhankar. He said all members of the state committees and district co-coordinators’ would participate in these workshops. Grewal said that meeting of the Southern region consisting of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadeep, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands will be held at Hyderabad on 24th November 2013 from morning till evening.
Grewal said the workshop regarding western region Maharashtra, Goa, Daman & Diu, Dadar Nagar Haweli and Gujarat would be organized at Mumbai on 26th November 2013.
He said that similarly, the workshop pertaining to North- East region ,i.e.,Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam at Guwahati on 28th November held at Patna on 30th November this year, he added.
He said that the Eastern Region workshop consisting of Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar would be held at Patna on 30thNovember this year.
Grewal said that the regional workshop of Northern region, i.e., Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh ad Haryana states would be held at Chandigarh on 9th December 2013.
He said that the workshop in respect of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand would be held at Lucknow on 10th December 2013 from morning till evening. Grewal further added that the similar workshop in respect of election bound states would be held after the results were declared, i.e., after 13th December 2013.
Grewal said that the resource persons from Gujarat and senior Ministers as well as members of central committee would participate in these workshops to pertain training. He said that all the office bearers and Parbhari of Kisan Morcha national team would attend the workshop of their respective region and would also participate in organizing the workshop. He said that the members of the central committee must accelerate the work in their respective region by associating them.
