scarce swallowtail in spring
Diesen Segelfalter habe ich beim Radfahren am Abend eines regnerischen Tags entdeckt. Nachdem es realtiv kalt war,l stellt ich mir den Wecker auf 5:30 und war zu Sonnenaufgang wieder an der besagten Location. Wie vermutet war der Segelfalter noch immer am selben Platz und aufgrund der Kälte (6 Grad C) noch nicht bereit zu fliegen, sodass ich ihn in Ruhe bei schönstem Morgenlicht fotografieren konnte.
I discovered this sailing butterfly while cycling in the evening on a rainy day. After it was relatively cold, I set the alarm clock to 5:30 am and was back at the said location at sunrise. As suspected, the sailing butterfly was still in the same place and due to the cold (6 degrees C) not yet ready to fly, so I was able to take a photo of it in the most beautiful morning light.
Zion National Park in Utah. It's a nice park that's entered from the bottom of the canyon instead of the top like Grand Canyon. Beautiful colors with camping, hiking and biking trails. This is in Great Falls National Park, Virginia. The falls are spread out over miles. This is the Potomac River. I believe one of the trails and scenic overlooks is wheelchair accessible. I'm not positive on that though. There are three of them but they're all basically the same. They are right next to each other. The falls parallel the C&O Canal (Maryland side) which has a bike / jogging trail which is a couple hundred miles long with B&B's along the way for several day bike journeys. Kayaking is also allowed on certain parts of the river. Many get rescued and some drown each year. Lock 20 and Lockhouse Number 12 in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park. The lockhouse is called the Great Falls Tavern. It was built in 1828. It now serves as a visitors center. Some of the lockhouses on the C&O Canal can be rented. Part of the towpath can be seen on the left. It's great for hiking, jogging, biking or a nature walk. There are several hiking trails here with available maps. A common cycling trip is from Pittsburg to Washington via bicycling. This is also part of Great Falls National Park on the Maryland side of the Potomac River. This is the one I took down a few days ago. The pic quality looked off from the compression. Carters Pond in Prince William Forest Park. The park is part of the National Park Service. The CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) began construction on cabins and campgrounds in the mid 1930's. They also reworked the exhausted land and planted trees and other vegetation to renew the forest. This is Carters Pond off of South Fork Quantico Creek. Die Waldschänke im Steinachtal befindet sich auf einem sehr interessanten Wanderweg, der auch an der Steinachklamm vorbeiführt. In diesem Gebiet gibt es viele Kilometer Wanderwege. Das Steinachtal befindet sich im Frankenwald und ist ein typischer Ausflugspunkt für das Wandern, Radfahren und Walken. Es gibt hier sehr schöne Felswände und auch Auen. Wer hier viel wandert, kann kilometerweit nur durch Wald schlendern.

The Waldschänke in Steinachtal is located on a very interesting hiking trail, which also leads past the Steinachklamm. There are many kilometers of hiking trails in this area. The Steinachtal is located in the Franconian Forest and is a typical excursion point for hiking, cycling and walking. There are very beautiful rock faces and meadows here. If you hike here a lot, you can only walk for miles through the forest.

Die Insel Föhr, sie liegt im Nationalpark Wattenmeer, vor der Küste von Schleswig-Holstein, Deutschland.
Ein Besuch mit mehreren Übernachtungen lohnt sich immer. Mann kann toll radfahren, am Strand spazieren gehen und die vielen kleinen Cafe`s leckeren Kaffe und Kuchen essen.

A visit with several nights is always worthwhile. You can go cycling, go for a walk on the beach and eat the many small cafes delicious coffee and cake.
Im Pustertal waren im Sommer 2022 einige FLIRT wegen technischer Mängel außer Betrieb.
Als Ersatz verkehrten auf dem Osttiroler Abschnitt zwei City-Shuttle Garnituren, sowie die üblichen "Radlerzüge".
Eine der beiden City-Shuttle Garnituren wurde mit einem Sandwich aus 1144 bespannt, hinzu kam ein Radwaggon.
Auf der Fahrt von Innichen nach Lienz konnte der Regionalzug bei Strassen fotografiert werden.
Gezogen wurde die Garnitur dabei von der 1144.123, am Zugschluss hing noch die 1144.089 dran.

Gelegentlich tauchen die wenigen Menschen, die man hier sieht, förmlich in die farbenfrohe Landschaft am Beginn des Sommers ein. Momentaufnahme in der Umgebung des 100-Seelen-Dorfes Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon.
Wir waren auch mit dem Rad und der Kamera im Gepäck auf menschenleeren Nebenstraßen in einer wundervollen Provence-Landschaft unterwegs. Der Lavendel hat seine Blütezeit noch vor sich.

Una river, one of the most beautiful rivers, as its name suggests (UNA = unique). Recorded in the city of Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad. The Una is a river that originates in Croatia, with a total length of about 212 km, then partly forms the border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, then flows through Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the last 100 km is again the border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The river is wild at times, but before its confluence with the Sava near Jasenovac, it becomes a real plains river. There are also several natural phenomena (waterfalls in Martinbrod and Štrbački buk). Many people love rafting and fishing on the Una.
Bei unserer Fahrradtour sind wir am Hohenwalder Teich vorbei gekommen. Hier entsteht jedes mal ein tolles Motiv.
On our bike tour we came past the Hohenwalder pond. Every time a great motive arises here.
Die Bombergallee ist eine bekannte Baumallee in der Kurstadt Bad Pyrmont (Niedersachsen). Sie gehört zu den historischen Alleen rund um den Kur- und Bergkurpark und ist besonders wegen ihrer alten Lindenreihen und des „Baumtunnel“Effekts beliebt.

Am Freitag sah ich beim Radfahren in einige dieser Perluttfalter in einer Wiese fliegen. Am Samstag war ich früh am morgen mit meiner Kamera dort, konnte aber "nur" 2 Kleine Wiesenvögelchen finden. Am Montag habe ich es nochmals versucht und habe 6 Exemplare des Magerrasen-Perlmuttfalter bei sehr frostigen Temperaturen gefunden.
On Friday, while cycling, I saw several of these fritillaries flying in a meadow. On Saturday morning, I went there early with my camera but only managed to find two small heath butterflies. On Monday, I tried again and found six specimens of the violet fritillary despite the very frosty temperatures.
