This Afghan soldier's weapon was a RPG. He wore a sheaf of 5 missles on his back, for easy reloading.
One of three photos, based off one actual photo I took to experiment with my desktop lighting setup, manipulated, slightly, via Lightroom. This one is tinted green, and may be the best of the three.
Created and published by Games Workshop in the winter of 1985-1986, this oddity was somewhat like an annual edition of White Dwarf Magazine aimed at complete newcomers to the RPG hobby. There were guides to D&D, Tolkien, a round of up the popular RPGs of the day (ie. those published under license by GW), and individual articles on many different RPGs, a bunch of scenarios, board-games, solo game books and more.

Here is my protptype cardboard health bar slider. Comes with a bit of string so you can hang it round your neck and a little slot in the top for placing cards to show various buffs or impairments (such as the Paizo GameMastery Condition Cards)
"These are the graves of old dwarven heroes, and I am here to tend to them," the machine tells us. The tombstones are decorated with old dwarven runes. Somehow all this doesn't seem like it is actually part of Trobriand's Graveyard, but maybe this is the foundation he built his keep on. Maybe, back in the past he even used the souls of the fallen dwarves to power his machines.
It was the first RPG he was here to play. He shared his introduction with Celia, who mostly watched and began to take the concept in.
