Note, W363 RJA was first registered on 17th May 2000 and delivered as number 333. It was officially renumbered 60255 on 9th October 2002 in the FirstGroup plc’s national numbering scheme and the seating was altered from B38F at some time by September 2005

With Deregulation came lots of cross border tit-for-tit competition between even the biggest operators and Greater Manchester North even set up an operating base in Liverpool to launch their attack on Merseybus who was making it's presence felt in places like Wigan. It might have been quite interesting for us bus enthusiasts but it was rather a waste of money especially as a better more frequent bus service with lots of choice was only a short lived illusion and once it settled down again the public would be left with a worse more fragmented service. As can be seen in the background at least here on Merseyside some of the new operators like Liverbus showed they were serious enough to buy new buses.

Note, RJA 706R was first registered on 11th March 1977 and carried a PS sticker showing it was allocated to Princess Road bus depot in Manchester

This collection is part of the Malta Bus Archive. It consists of a group of photographs taken by members of the Griscti family in the 1920s and 1930s of buses they built. The family operated most of these buses from their Red Wheel Garage in Sliema.

Liverbus was another post dereg operation set up in Liverpool. They grew quite large, buying new Olympians, and even tendering for London operations under the London Suburban name. This ex GM buses Atlantean is seen in Liverpool. Liverbus sold out to MTL (Merseybus), and the London op became MTL London, now part of Arriva London. The merseyside op is now part of Arriva North West
