Weekend fun with a mirror image of a large wave crashing ashore and bringing with it, Poseidon, the Greek god of the Sea.

Das Wort Shaka, begleitet von einer typischen Handhaltung, bei der die geschlossene Faust mit abgespreiztem Daumen und kleinem Finger gehoben wird, ist eine ganz allgemein auf Hawaii und per Übernahme durch die dortigen Surfer auch unter diesen Sportlern gebräuchliche Geste, die zu verschiedenen Anlässen gebraucht wird und etwa so viel bedeutet wie „Cool!“, „Locker!“, „In Ordnung!“, „Gute Welle“. Ursprünglich steht es für die zwischen diesen Fingern symbolisch gespannte Hängematte (hang loose, wie die Surfer sagen).

The first Southern Swell of 2013 on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. Sandy Beach was offering Monster Waves, lots of white wash, churning up the sand and surfers / body boarders that were brave enough to head out. Loving the surf yesterday!
Went back to Sandy's Beach, Oahu, Hawaii yesterday afternoon to enjoy the Southern Swell and was rewarded with a pretty sunset and of course some awesome waves. Surfers, Body Boarders and Photographers were all having some fun. #ilovehawaii and the beach! Aloha

Sandy Beach is known as Break Neck beach for a reason. Powerful waves breaking close to the shoreline creates a dangerous situation for novice and experienced boarders alike. This was from the first Southern Swell of the season in May. Hawaii is beautiful.
I could have lightened this image, but the sun was setting and there was this slight yellow to the water. I wanted to present the wave in the setting that it was taken - darker out.

Providing for an exceptionally rare shot, Arriva Southend Optare Versa YJ61CHY (4203) carrying 'Ride the Wave' branding for Route 9 (Shoeburyness - Rayleigh via Southend) is seen miles away from its usual locality as it stands on Cambridge Road in Stansted Mountfitchet on a Route 301 working (Saffron Walden - Stansted Airport via Bishops Stortford).
The vehicle is currently on loan to Arriva Harlow owing to serious vehicle shortages, it is also believed to be the first instance that an Optare Versa has worked on the 301, the primary allocation usually being Dennis Darts 06/07/15
I was shooting the pier one afternoon and randomly met Leandra who let me do an impromptu photoshoot of her surfing. Here she is paddling in with what looks to be a shark over her foot there. Hence this ended our shoot, but we had a blast chatting and I am trying to help her out...see my comment below!

What to do for Halloween? I do Pictoria Secrete throughout the year, so I wanted to do something different. So I dredged up the character of Sue Nummy - Ride the Wave! once again.
