Saint-Chély-du-Tarn és un poblet molt petit situat en un racó espectacular de les Gorges del Tarn. Per arribar-hi cal atravesar un tunel i un gran pont sobre el riu. És un punt molt popular per als esports d'aventura de la zona.

The tiny village of St. Chély-du-Tarn is located in a very spectacular corner of the Tarn gorges, and has it's own waterfall. It's a very popular spot for extreme sports.
It's not often that the '69 Bulli looks small, but as I walked back toward it after stopping to take a scenic shot on the outskirts of town along Summit Valley Road, the Bus seemed to have met its match in the oversized, open surroundings, so I took this picture of it under the big desert sky.

A cluster of California buckwheat casts its distinctive shadow on the wooden post and rail of a sturdy fence along the roadside in Summit Valley, with a field of uncut brush behind, and with the mountains which ridge the valley's eastern end as backdrop.

The name of Vilanova de Meià ,means "new town" of Meià. It this case, "new" means new in the XIV Century. It's church is gothic so... The older village stood in the hill above Vilanova (under the cliffs in the picture). There still stands the romanesque church and the ruins of the castle and houses. I supose the name was only Meià, back then. Meià more or less means "middle".
Just after that range stood the front of the spanish civil war for almost a year, from april 1938 to january 1939.
Joshua trees typically don't grow in closely clustered stands locally like birches, aspens, or alders, but tend to grow as stand-alone trees, spread out from one another. We might say, in reference to our current situation, that they naturally practice social distancing :-) Even so, this iconic, solitary joshua always catches my eye as I round the first curve into open country on Arrowhead Lake Road, heading out of town, for its solo posture on the east-facing hillside with only wildflowers, mountains, and clouds for company.

They say you can't judge a book by its cover, but you can probably judge my town, Hesperia, by this prospect on Summit Valley Road, on the city's southwest border. Hesperia is indeed a dry, dusty, high desert town, ringed with mountains, with lots of open space and sagebrush :-)

On this stretch of the famous “Mother Road”—the primary US highway connecting the Midwest and West Coast from the 1920s through the 80s—the road is a pair of roadways—the now unused old road (where I stood to take the picture), which was washed out in several places west of Summit Valley by the floods of 1938, and the “new” road, on the left, built as the original road's replacement. As you can see on the hillside near the center of the image, an enterprising local rancher has cleared away the brush in the form of a “66” to commemorate the famous highway, across which generations of Americans migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s.

This tiny, quiet, cul-de-sac was 2000 years ago the scaena of the Baetulo Roman theatre. The house to the left stands in what was the scaena frons, and to the right the brown wall hides the orchestra and cavea. In fact, the remains of the cavea could be seen from the other side, but are quite in bad shape.

A bientôt!

Good evening!
The RER A is a classic, especially the Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy branch with its famous Disneyland park, and as tradition dictates, a hunt for the IDF-liveried MI2N Alteo trains was a must!
On 23 March, despite the thick haze, it was a fruitful day as I spotted three UM2s, including this one, 100% IDFM, comprising trainsets 1553/54 and 1537/38 on a ZUPE 91 service bound for Saint-Germain-en-Laye, about to pass through the famous Val d’Europe business and commercial district.
A livery that will become the standard and will gradually replace the blue, white and red IDF livery that I love so much – how sad, but well, we’ll just have to get on with it.
See you soon!

The equipment move of former YDHR equipment prepares to leave Uxbridge for the final time. A hard sight to see having been a volunteer of this once great operation.
Cutting between the long standing feed buildings, a stark reminder of the past directors feasting, while the railway starved. The equipment is off to better pastures under RERA Canada.
It was 127 film Sunday and I had my Yashica 44 out shooting film at the City Market in Kanas City. This is a wonderful place to people watch and we visit frequently during the busy Summer months. This young lady was visiting one of the many vintage clothing tents setup in the market this time of year. Image captured using Rera Pan 400 film, self-developed with HC110 dilution B.

Smoke show from a beautiful RS11 is a great way to go. The former York-Durham Heritage Railway 3612 making some moves preparing the final equipment moves out of Uxbridge. The now defunct heritage railway moving equipment off to new locations for new life under RERA Canada. A bitter sweet feeling watching my beloved 3612 operating and hearing its horn of unmatched beauty for the last time on the Uxbridge sub.
My fond memories volunteering for this railway riding in the baggage car with the doors open enjoying the sounds of 3612 and the clanks of jointed rail rolling along the line to Stouffville and back.
Here's to the future of this equipment seeing new life after some much needed tlc
3612 built for the DWP later moving to CV then sold to LV
