Wine Label Series III
Old Rag Mountain lies within the winery's county and is the area's claim to fame. Folks come from all over the world to traverse the 9 mile circuit hike which takes approximately 6 to 8 hours. Though not specifically asked to photograph this mountain, it's hard to resist when I'm on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.
Please note that I am posting my original full photos, not the cropped or resized pictures that I sent to the winery for potential use on their labels.

We had no plans of where to go yesterday which usually results in some of our best traveling time. Almost immediately after leaving my driveway we turned down this small country road to this cornfield and grabbed a shot of Old Rag in the morning light. We actually didn't trespass up into the field, not because it would have been trespassing (we didn't see That sign until we were about ready to leave!) but because we thought we might run into too much mud from a resent rain! LOL
When journeys end and fires grow dim,
It rests beside the engine’s rim,
A tattered cloth, no more to brag—
Yet holds the soul of the oily rag.
He knows each bolt, each hissing seam,
A silent mate to fire and steam,
Through grease and grit its fibres brag—
The humble pride of the oily rag.

I joined a group off of Facebook called 52Frames and each week of the year you have a challenge to take a photo with a certain subject. This week (my second!) was to take a photo of something interesting from where I live. Well, Old Rag is certainly the most famous and interesting thing! You can also choose to take on a second challenge and the one from this week was to shoot your subject at sunrise. So... Old Rag at sunrise today! Hardest thing about that challenge was actually getting up that early. LOL This was taken from an upstairs bedroom. Have a fantastic day everyone.

I've posted lots of views of this mountain but mostly from my own yard. This is down the road a couple of miles, hand held shot while driving.... Yikes! Luckily there is almost No other traffic which is weird as this road is quite well traveled. I was coming home from an egg drop off at the food bank. Sure is some beautiful scenery between there and here! :)

In December Rags' daughter 'Dushara Something About You' gave birth to two silver babies at the Dushara cattery. We have not yet met them, but no doubt they are lovely - like all Somali kittens are... :)

Probably at peak or just past peak leaf viewing. Elevation: 3,284′ and one of the most popular hiking destinations in the state of Virginia. It is located in the Shenandoah National Park. This was taken from just behind my barn. Used to be I could view this straight from the house, but so many trees over the past 35 years have grown up that it's difficult to see it fully like this. Wishing everyone a totally awesome weekend! :)
I took a ride on the back roads yesterday and caught this different view of Old Rag Mountain. This mountain is in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and usually I see it much closer! It was refreshing to see it from a different perspective.
