the horbills are quite large birds used to feed on fruit and mainly insects,arachnids and small vertebrates.
but they are not used to kill aduld birds.
in this case an African Grey Hornbill (tockus nasutus) has cought and killed a social weaver.

Generally quite dark compared to other orb web spiders and can be found close to water where their webs are spun on fencing, buildings and bridges and rarely on vegetation. Close to a river near me where I live a river flows under a road in a tunnel these Orbweb spiders can be found and seen in their webs close to the lights that help to light up the pathway where they have the best of both worlds, warmth from the lights where I have even seen the adults spiders here in February with snow outside and plus their prey such as moths and flies are attracted to the lights also. Its amazing to see their webs so close together and not eating each other, nature can be truly amazing at times.

Another slightly brighter view of the hills I visited recently, from a good vantage point it gave a great view for as far as the eye could see on what I consider a very interesting landscape with it's many layers.
In the early evening light the scene was really quite breathtaking. It's a great place to photograph and also very quiet, in fact I only seen one farmer on a tractor far away in the distance during my visit :))

At the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague. This cemetery was in use from around the early 15th century up to the late 19th - then the area was completely full and a new cemetery was needed.
It is estimated that some 100 000 persons have been buried here, and there are around 12 000 tombstones preserved.
Quite sure this is a song sparrow...has the dark patch on its chest, not as well seen in this view.
...a magical moment for us as we sat outside our cabin and were treated with many moments of a glorious song....his mate was on the ground looking for nesting materials. I tried to find a recording of what we heard, but nothing quite matched the joy in this male's song.
Definitely a moment to stop and simply enjoy!...and so the same for you even if you can't hear the song:)..

We went quite far into the swamps in search of a sunrise shooting location. It was our mistake, along the way we missed a couple of pretty good ones in search of the best one. Therefore, we met the dawn at a rather boring location
Quite desolate and weather beaten on a Wyoming landscape - this old outbuilding survives.
(They say there are more Pronghorn Antelope in Wyoming than people, also they are the only American Antelope.)
This was one of those shots when you looked at the original thumbnail I thought was a bad quality shot until you take a couple sips of your favorite caffeinated beverage and do some work with your photo software.

The path across this field of rough grazing is quite indistinct so it was a relief to reach the gate.

This was one of several cedar waxwings enjoying the berries on this bush. They let me get quite close for shooting!
This Cormorant was struggling to swallow the large fish that it had just caught. It did succeed in the end!

One of 5 varieties of minivets in the forest we visited and a lifer!. Not the rarest, but definitely quite an uncommon one. It looks similar to the common Scarlet Minivet, but has a rosy frontside due to which it derives that name.
Similar behaviour as that of the other minivets except that it prefers small groups, usually 2 where both the male and female forage together. It is also a high canopy bird and prefers to come out to the open at the top!
ebird doesn't list the forest we visited as a native range of this bird, but since we sighted it during the non-migratory season, assume its resident there. The last trip we even sighted it nesting.

I dug out an old and very cheap watch. It is quite dead which makes me sad as it was beautiful for summer. When I did my close up I noticed all the little lines going out from the middle, I never saw them before. So I tried to do them justice by choosing this section of the watch face.

What to do while waiting for the tide to drop and the sun to set, make a stone sculpture. This one was quite rushed as the sun was setting quickly, but that made it more fun. Made of stone is by The Stone Roses, and seems right. One day , when I've got the time , I'll have to make a really big one .
I'm quite sure it's still in use during the warmer months. Parked in someone's yard on CR 15, Walsh County.
Surprised that no one has posted a shot of skin - the most easily accessible and very flexible object that can be photographed. This is a shot of a section of my palm. The logistics involved in getting this shot was quite tricky!

Mottled Ducks are quite common in Florida. They sometimes breed with Mallards and hybrids form, much to the consternation of my biologist friend who is interested in preserving the Florida line. Here is a mated pair in flight. You can tell the male is in the foreground by his brighter yellow bill. The female's bill is more orange and duller.
I just looked up the Latin name and I'm almost jealous. How'd you like to be named "Anas fulvigula"? Not great: "Hey Anas, get a load of this!" Great: "Hey, Fulvigula, get a load of this!" :)
Quite a few months since I last saw Gamora, I'm still hoping there may come a day when we bump into each other again and rekindle our precious moments with each other again. I really do hope she and the other foxes just decided to move on from all the building work and disturbance that was going on in their area and that nothing sad happened to her and the others. I will really miss that famous squint of those eyes !
Quite an unusual Spring. Nearly everything bloomed early here in the south and this was one of the last redbuds to be found anywhere.
