I gave my smallest Lesser Tenrec (Azizi) the run of my cushion whilst I cleaned him out. He was quite relaxed on there.
Tillandsia cyanea or Pink Quill is a species of flowering plant in the bromeliad family, subfamily Tillandsioideae. An epiphyte native to Ecuador, T. cyanea is among the most commonly cultivated bromeliad species. The foliage grows in a rosette of thin, recurved leaves and the inflorescence is a plume of pink or red bracts from which violet flowers emerge.
The beautiful deep purple perfumed flowers will start from the bottom of the bract and will appear, usually one at a time, first from one side and then the other, working their way to the top over several weeks. The plume lasts for ages and makes a great indoor as well as outdoor plant.

A shy porcupine came to visit. Wouldn't smile for me, kept his back to me most of the time. Handy tho to show the mixed colors of the various sized arsenal on his back. Single quills are interspersed with bristles, underfur, and hair.

My post yesterday of this visiting porcupine did look odd, making some wonder where his head was. Here's another shot of him as he slowly vamoosed showing a profile of his small head.
Their nose and bellies are where predators attack them so they do their best to keep their back to attackers and not get turned over.
Porcupines have a relatively high longevity and hold the record for being the longest-living rodent, with one individual named Cooper living past 32 years. Not surprising when they have those hurtful weapons on their backs.
A baby porcupine is a porcupette. When born, a porcupette's quills are soft hardened hair. They harden within a few days, forming the sharp quills of adults. Hmmm, interesting name for the one thing you shouldn't do is pet a porcupine.....

I believe this porcupine is a female because in a nearby tree was also a baby porcupine. This porcupine was happily eating leaves way up in this tree.

While some certainly do nice things and some may even grant wishes; others still play harmless pranks to fool the mortals they encounter. To most the fae are mischievous tricksters on the surface and no true threat. However the fae hierarchy stretches and grows like the roots of the oldest trees in the forest and for every bit of light and shimmer as branches raise high in the sky; there is dark and shadow as roots dig deep into the earth. The Duskfall Court is the seat of shadow and where pranks are rarely harmless. Those who abide by its laws find themselves watched over by the nobility of the court. Those who tread these woods best watch out because the woods watch back and will not hesitate to ensnare the unwary.
Pink Quill (Tillandsia cyanea)
I have never seen a plant quite like the Pink Quill. My photo doesn't quite do the plant justice as the pink and purple seemed so vibrant in person. The plant has beautiful pink quills (hence the name), and purple flower bloom from the quill. I've read that it's a relatively easy to care for house plant. Definitely on my list :-)

Trumpeter Swans are impressively large—males average over 26 pounds, making them North America’s heaviest flying bird. To get that much mass aloft the swans need at least a 100 meter-long “runway” of open water: running hard across the surface, they almost sound like galloping horses as they generate speed for take off.
Starting in the 1600s, market hunters and feather collectors had decimated Trumpeter Swans populations by the late 1800s. Swan feathers adorned fashionable hats, women used swan skins as powder puffs, and the birds’ long flight feathers were coveted for writing quills. Aggressive conservation helped the species recover by the early 2000s.
