Coot and quiet--two words that don't seem to go together. Because they are relatively heavy birds, they splash a lot on takeoff from or landing in water. That often causes a commotion by other coots when landing near a raft of them.
American Coots were very abundant at Merritt Island and at Orlando Wetlands on the East Coast of Florida.
I had little time to go out, this is part of the November series, when this path was a splendor, I hope you like it along with me ...

It was a cold, windy, dark day, and the park was nearly deserted. A pair of Sandhill Cranes foraged silently on the lawn at the beach area of Stony Creek Metropark, in SE Michigan.
Sandhill Cranes are very tall birds (40-48 inches; 100-120cm), with a wingspan up to 7 feet wide.
Thanks to all for your wonderful comments, faves

A curious blend of misty marshes and towering rocking outcrops, peaceful spaces appear around every turn at The Hell's Haven. Beautifully decored, this engawa lies tucked away, perfectly situated for quiet moments where the whole world exists within the space between breaths.
A friend of mine sent me an IPhone photo of his three little friends sharing a quiet moment together. So, of course, I had to play with it and, after a few creative changes, I hope that this image brings you a smile too.

Mondello is a fishing village with a magnificent white sand beach near Palermo, it is famous not only for its blue sea but also for its heritage of its numerous Art Nouveau villas that characterize the architecture of the place, making it an important point of reference for the history of international modernism.
These buildings (many by the famous architect Ernesto Basile) are among the best examples of Art Nouveau architecture in Italy and Europe.

Taken at Coughton Court National Trust. Taking a quiet moment from the rest of the herd, I don't know the breed.
