Existential - Picturing the questions {and vice versa}

There 's nothing like cool temperatures and fresh air to raise the spirits. during my forays to the Alabama Hills the temperature can get up into the 100's and when they do, this is where I seek refuge. At around 9000 ft in elevation the difference in temperature is about 15 degrees and there nothing better the a fine mist that floats away from the falls right onto your weary soul.

The question yesterday as we prepared for a hike was cameras or no cameras? The answer was yes cameras although I wasn't feeling high energy so I compromised with a lighter camera body D850 and short lens 300mm VR PF f/4. When the owl flew by we were very happy that we had had agreed cameras :)

In the 13th century, towns such as San Gimignano were often run by feuding noble families, whose towers would show off their economic power. The building process, involving digging the materials, carting them to the site and building the tower, was neither simple nor cheap. The towers were, and still are, owned by private families.
In San Gimignano today, only 14 towers remain of the 72 which stood in the 14th century. This still makes it the "city of beautiful towers" and guaranteed its UNESCO World Heritage Site recognition.
The two white marks on the left hind wing of the question mark butterfly really do resemble a question mark. The undersides of question mark butterfly's wings resemble dead leaves.

According to the definition of this weeks theme there have to be two things, which "must be different kinds of things". That raises the question:
Is a raisin something different from a grape?
Is the chicken different from the egg?
Is anything even real? Is this philosophy?
(Okay, at least we know the answer to the last question is "NO, get lost!" 😂)

The rookery at Resoft consists of three small islands in a relatively small pond. Cattle Egrets (I'd estimate a thousand, maybe more) currently dominate the rookery. A Cattle Egret was photographed ensnared in monofilament (fishing line) hanging from a tree on one of the islands. This distressed bird came to the attention of the authorities who sent workers in boats to free the bird. This intervention (I'd never seen humans on any of the islands before) profoundly disturbed the nesting birds, which took to the air in flocks multiple times as the rescue operation progressed. This photo and the next were taken one tenth of a second apart. They document one of the disturbances. The question is: Is the life of one Cattle Egret worth the disruption to a rookery of a thousand birds? Let me know your opinion. Resoft County Park, Alvin, Texas.
This is a first for me. A Question Mark Butterfly. It was closed when I first saw it. I knew it was something I'd never seen before because of its shape. Then it opened its wings! Lovely!
