An Aurizon empty coal train works west through Lanefield

Lovely visit to Magnetic Island or (Maggie Island) in Queensland and this was the view.

Magnetic Island, known to its Indigenous inhabitants as Yunbenun, is an island 8 kilometres offshore from the city of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. This 52 km² mountainous island in Cleveland Bay has effectively become a suburb of Townsville, with 2,335 permanent residents.

According to his journal, Captain Cook named it 'Magnetical Island or Headland' on June 7, 1770, as he travelled up Australia's east coast. Apparently, as he passed the island, it had a magnetic effect on his ship's compass. ... He also didn't know whether it was an island or a peninsula, hence the two names.

It pays to turn around!

Looking towards the sunrise coming through the fog I was very focused on the scene behind me. Timing is everything and once I was pretty sure I had the shot I wanted, I turned around to see what was going on behind me.

I nearly fell over! The fog was lit up with pinks and purples, grabbed my tripod (with camera firmly attached!) ran across the road and lined up this shot. This is what I saw!
