En las jornadas del24 y 25 de febrero, tendrá lugar en el Campus de la Uva en Palencia el primer hackathon de la Cátedra Smart Global Ecosystems Universidad de Valladolid – SNGULAR. Los hackathones son una manera diferente de poner a prueba tus ideas y/o conocimientos, a la vez que adquieres nuevas habilidades. A través de estos eventos se buscan soluciones a problemas reales, muchas veces en equipos multidisciplinares que comparten diversos conocimientos y puntos de vista.
El tema del hackathon será “Viaje iniciático a Python usando Google Earth: analizando el cambio global”. Google Earth Engine (GEE) es una plataforma en la nube para realizar análisis científicos que permite el análisis y visualización de datos geoespaciales a escala global. Permite analizar la cobertura de bosques y agua, el cambio de usos de suelo, evaluar la salud de los campos agrícolas, etc. A la vez que se aprende qué es Google Earth Engine se irán introduciendo de forma práctica los conceptos del lenguaje de programación Python que se vayan necesitando.
Se ha ampliado la capacidad del evento debido a la gran demanda y finalmente serán más de 70 participantes, entre los que se incluyen estudiantes, jóvenes egresados y profesionales de los sectores forestal, agrícola, ambiental, geográfico y otros afines.
Mañana, jueves 24 de febrero, en la inauguración de las jornadas se contará con la presencia de el alcalde y el delegado de la Junta, la Vicerrectora del campus de Palencia y el director de la ETS de Ingenierías Agrarias. Además, el viernes, 25 de febrero, se espera la visita de la presidenta de la Diputación de Palencia.
Esta actividad se enmarca dentro de la Cátedra Smart Global Ecosystems Universidad de Valladolid – SNGULAR, una alianza entre la Universidad de Valladolid y SNGULAR para fomentar la investigación y formación en el área de la inteligencia artificial y la ciencia de datos aplicada al medio natural. Esta cátedra de empresa persigue promover la sostenibilidad de nuestros ecosistemas mediante el uso de las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones (TICs) y del análisis masivo de datos.
En la organización de este evento colabora el Campus de Palencia de la Universidad de Valladolid con más de 20 empresas y entidades tanto de Castilla y León como del resto de España destacando la colaboración especial de Google, la empresa INCA Medio, el Parque Científico de la Universidad de Valladolid, el Instituto de Competitividad Empresarial (ICE) y las Fundación Repsol, Grupo Sylvestris y Cesefor.
Entre las empresas e instituciones que colaboran en el Hackathon Smart Global Ecosystems 2022 están el Instituto Universitario de Gestión Forestal Sostenible (iuFOR), la ETS Ingenierías Agrarias de Palencia, ITACYL, CARTIF, ITAGRA, GeoSat, Tecnosylva, Land Life Company, Basartea, Albera Medio Ambiente, IDForest, la cooperativa Agresta, ExVer-Extremadura Verde, ECM Ingeniería Ambiental, Föra, Zenit Ingeniería, e IFSA Palencia (la sección de Palencia de la asociación internacional de estudiantes de forestales).

This lovely lady is a Stimsons Python Antaresia stimsoni. The Stimsons python is a relatively small python in comparison with other Australian python species.
The Stimsons natural distribution range would probably be the largest distribution range of any Australian python. Within this huge distribution range there are several recognized morphs. These morphs were probably the result of environmental differences e.g. habitat, prey and climate differences, over thousands of years.
Generally speaking the Stimsons python is well suited as a captive pet. The temperament of these pythons is quite placid and besides the odd exception they are normally amendable to handling.
This lovely lady Roxanne belongs to the neighbours across the road from my parents. Trev has had her for about 12 years now and in that time she has grown quite a bit!
