My father & brother relocated this beautiful python from a neighbors yard to the forest near vision falls, at Lake Eacham.
This is one of a few photos of this snake in our back yard the other day. She was around a good 3 metres long biggest one I've seen .
I have been to most of the public cliff-dwellings; Gila has the largest cavern I've seen as a single room; it's fracking HUGE!
They say not very many people lived here, and not for very long (+- 30 years). I say BS!, this has the markings of a very ancient place..
"Shaggy" is a Jungle carpet python (Morelia spilota cheynei). a native of Northern Queensland, Australia. Carpet pythons are moderate in size growing to 5-6 feet in length. They are called "carpet" pythons because their pattern was thought to resemble an Oriental rug. "Shaggy" was adopted after the folks who had purchased him at a pet store were unable to care for him. The pet store had not provided any information on how to care for carpet pythons. "Shaggy" was bred and hatched in captivity, not taken from the wild, which is a good thing. "Shaggy" had just finished shedding his skin when this picture was taken so his colors are very bright. Can you find "Shaggy's" head? View large or original sizes to see detail of scales. Sync was the most beautiful snake I've ever seen. The photo here was taken when he was still young (under six months) but as he got older the orange began to darken. Bismarck Pythons (liasis boa or bothrochilus boa) are known for their remarkable irridescence and Sync was no exception. Sadly, he managed to escape captivity one night (something else they're known for, apparently) and has not been seen since. I like to think that he may have survived but I doubt it.
We stressed our not-yet-in-production web application with apache benchmark (something like -n 1000 -c 100) at work and .... what the heck :-D
