Alcohol gel transfer on Arches 88 paper using hand sanitizer and old overhead transparency material

This transfer was made with some old overhead projection material that Mike Zeis was nice enough to send along to me. It has a lovely "winter" look to it, whether it's snowing or not. :)

There's another version of this image on my blog using the method from my previous posts.

Another image of this scene on the blog. pushprocessed.blogspot.com/2022/06/here-we-are-again.html

With less time to photograph and far too many rolls hanging about to process, I have been trawling through some my 2020-present scans as I slowly compress files to reclaim some megabytes of storage.

In the process, I have been discovering some surprises - images I had set aside as not good enough for one reason or another, and, in the midst of them, this one - what is, for me, a rare wildlife shot on film. While I have been eager to take wildlife photographs on film, it is an undeniably expensive means of obtaining endless blurry photographs. Here, though, it all seems to have come together. Yes, the heron is grainy, but what does that matter in the mist.

Heron beside the Glyme, Blenheim Park, Oxon, late 2020. Pentax SP II with, at a guess, a Super Takumar 300/4.5. Adox CHS II 100 pushed to 200 in ID-11. Very little work on the scan aside from dust removal and some contrast.

Antique book shops are fascinating to me. Treasures waiting to be found, unexpected discoveries on every shelf and pile.

And in most cases, very knowledgeable ladies and gents that keep track of every book within their realm, often accumulating very deep knowledge of certain genres, authors and topics. Guardians and guides.

This was among the first things I checked when I got my latest 2.8F: Focus accuracy is critical in TLR cameras like the Rolleiflex. As the focusing happens through the upper viewing lens with the taking lens below moving along on the front plate - misalignments could occur. Problems would show up mostly with wide open aperture and at close distance. The use of the clever Rolleinar closeup attachments made the test images even more demanding - and nicer to look at.
