Horezu (Hurezi) Monastery Horezu Monastery - part of theUNESCO World Heritage List. The place dates from 1690, when it was founded by Constantin Brancoveanu, the ruler ofWallachia during the 17th century. He was well known for his openness and admiration for spirituality and culture. He and his family are revered by the Orthodox Church because they have been tortured and killed in Istanbul by the Ottomans due to their religious beliefs. In fact, the story is surprising and frightening because all of his children were killed in front of him and his wife. The Monastery of Horezu is built using the Brancovan Style.
