The Perurail Titicaca Train is an unforgettable train ride, covering the incredible journey from Cusco to Puno in Peru through the Peruvian Andes.
The journey is very spectacular, whizzing through the Abra La Raya mountain pass, at an altitude of 4,352 meters, and the commercial centre of Juliaca, where the train passes right through the central market. Finally, the train skirts the majestic Lake Titicaca before arriving at the station in Puno. The train covers 385 Kilometers and takes a total of 10 hours and 30 minutes.
E' una città, non particolarmente bella (è un eufemismo) dalla quale partono le escursioni verso le isole Amantani e Tequile sul lago Titicaca.
Quasi tutte le case, curiosamente non hanno un tetto, questo per permettere in una fase successiva di alzare di un piano o due il fabbricato, infatti, sino a quando non c'è il tetto la casa non si può considerare finita.

Eigentlich sollte der Touristenzug - der eine Rundreise mit gutbetuchten Touristen durch die Anden unternimmt, bereits um 11 Uhr ab Puno fahren. Wir standen pünkltich an eben dieser Stelle und warteten ... und warteten ... und warteten.
Irgendwann glaubten wir nicht mehr daran und sind mal zum Hafen von Puno gefahren, da startet der Zug. Und tatsächlich, da stand er .... und machte sich gerade auf den Weg. Mit über 5 Stunden Verspätung verliess er Puno und wir fuhren etwas verzweifelt an unsere Stelle zurück. Es wäre mal so schön gewesen .... ;)
