Owls are super capable of providing for their family. This female Great Horned Owl, large and powerful with lethal talons and the ability to fly silently in the dark has no problem providing for her family. I think she'd be capable of providing for a a neighborhood if we were willing to eat her fare. (Bubo virginianus)

Unable to decide between Copp or Full Frame !

I want to inform you that I will be more or less absent from Flickr during the month of September. First, because I am finally changing my internet provider and I have to go to my little sister's house in Prince Edward Island for a while sometime in September.

For the moment I am still at home finalizing my outside work on the land and the house. My current Internet package will end on August 31, 2022, so I will no longer be able to post until I receive and plug in the new Star Link provider sometime in September, or if I am somewere and have Internet...

For today post, I really didn't know which to post, the Copped picture or the Full Frame one? So I leave it up to you to decide which one you prefer.

The male of a pair of blackbirds nesting in a bay tree in my garden. This is situated right outside my patio doors which is handy, I can hear the little ones all the time. The only problem is my cat, she caught him in the week & brought him inside where I managed to grab him quickly before any harm was done. I popped him back where he is in the picture & he scutttled back into the tree.

Survival of the fittest plays out in the eagle nest near my home. These egg-eaglet-full size transitions can be amazing to watch. I learned the other day that this is the fastest growing species in the bird world. This is an oldie and remains one of the memorable photos from the ongoing story of the nesting pair.

This is an image of a Great Blue Heron who I felt was very proud of his find on this particular trip. they work so hard to find the nesting material and sometimes it turns out to be a little wee stick while other times it is a real prize.

A good provider and he always stays to watch that it goes down the hatch because sometimes the new baby will lose the meal provided. Unfortunately, the loons at my lake weren't successful with their hatch. I found the egg abandoned, leaking and punctured by 4 sharp teeth. So I drove two hours to another lake hoping to see loonlets. The wind and waves were crazy but I didn't let that stop me. When I paddled up to the far side of the lake I could hear the loons screaming. A fisherman was casting his line at the family without a care. He saw me coming (lucky for him or I would have chewed him a new one) and left. Situation thwarted the family was at peace once again until the next mishap. I hope to see them in another 2 or 3 weeks, preferably in calm waters at sunset. The babies are the cutest at 1-4 days old.

The O2 (formerly known as the Millennium Dome) is a large entertainment district on the Greenwich peninsula in South East London, England, including an indoor arena, a music club, a Cineworld cinema, an exhibition space, piazzas, bars, restaurants, and a guided tour to the top of the O2. It was built largely within the former Millennium Dome, a large dome-shaped canopy built to house an exhibition celebrating the turn of the third millennium; consequently The Dome remains a name in common usage for the venue. Naming rights to the district were purchased by the mobile telephone provider O2 from its developers, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), during the development of the district. AEG owns the long-term lease on the O2 Arena and surrounding leisure space. On 23 February 2017, O2 announced that they had agreed to a deal with AEG to maintain the naming rights of The O2 for a further 10 years until 2027.

O2 is the trading name for Telefónica Europe, a European telecommunications provider.

It's a hot summer night and CPR's Megantic local has arrived back at Sherbrooke. With the restroom stop, coffee, and good ole' ribbing out of the way, it's time get back to work and yard the train. Next up will be to get a drink for the MLW RS18 from a local fuel provider.

Happy MLW Monday!

Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada

During the time that we have been here in Annapolis Royal, this fishing boat was being repaired and getting a new coat of paint. It's really amazing how quickly that they have accomplished this work. Here the sign painter is putting the finishing touches on the name.

See the next photo for a shot of the whole boat.

This hard-working male Cross Fox caught vole after vole. He did something I've never seen before, he would bury the voles very shallow in the snow with his nose and later gather several and take them to the den.

This is the male of a pair of local barn owls (Tyto alba). I've not seen them for a month and with the appalling weather and the constant presence of jackdaws at the roost I was afraid they had not survived. Great to see him hunt successfully, return straight to the nest with the catch and go back out immediately.

This time of year the birds are busy courting and building nests and of course the great blue herons put on a wonderful show for all. Their amazing feather detail and color make them a true masterpiece of creation and what a privilege it is to see them in the process of building the future !!

A tribute to the men and women who provide foods in our plate. They are the unsung heroes of our society.

On her first day in new madder and white here's 746 at Balerno terminus and note the Mobitech number digits (44) on the destination screen. Lothian's first Gemini B7's were from fleet number 701 and the first 45 (701 to 745) have Hanover screens - that's separate digit tracks for each of the roller blind service numbers. From 746 all numbers within this screen are on one track - so the effect is that the numbers are placed more narrowly together.
