"To You a 3-D Christmas, Dandy, Delightful, Deluxe! Frank and Nell. Dec. 25, '53. Frank Vining Smith."
A personal Christmas greeting card from maritime artist Frank Vining Smith and his wife Nell.
Smith's three-dimensional Santa popping out of the projection screen was a topical reference to the spate of 3D movies that appeared in 1953.
The Norwegian Joy's theater space. We saw several solid shows during our cruise, including Dirty Dancing and some.... less great shows. :) It's always hit and miss with the entertainment on ships, but I was entirely happy with the entertainment taken as a whole.
Image showing a photo from the Daniel Boschungs portrait series "Face Cartography" in the Deep Space 8K of the Ars Electronica Center.
The standardized portraits have a surprising impact. Each picture consists of about 600 single shots with a size of 900 million pixels. The result is hyper realistic. A stubble turns into a trunk, a wrinkle into a canyon, the nostril into a cavern.

This picture of a Bridge over the Hillsborough River was taken at night from the Tampa River Walk . When the Republican National Convention was held in Tampa in August 2012, accent lighting was added to all of the Hillsborough River Bridges for the convention and continues to be utilized today. Projectors were also added to the sides of the Bridges. This view is looking North. The larger bridge in the Background is the Interstate 275 Bridge.

©2010 Phillip Nesmith - It has been five months since my last posting. Here is the first posting of 2010 for your review. Seems maybe I have been too busy with Facebook.
I have crazy dreams, but often I cannot remember them. But when I do, they are fantastical, with a current of fear or nervousness underpinning them. The dreams are in living color with smells that sometimes still fill my nose when I wake up. Evidence that I was actually in that other place perhaps?
As far as I know, this image has nothing to do with my dreams, or at least any that I remember. Maybe it is an vision from a dream that I just had, but is unknown to me.
My co-workers and I gathered in a conference room at work to watch Obama's inauguration on the big projection screen. We streamed the video live from one of the news sites, but we also had a small black-and-white television on stand by just in case the stream stalled out (which it did a couple of times).
