The NYS IPM Program is evaluating the efficacy of carpenter bee traps. This design differs from our experimental trap by comparing holes that are drilled at an angle into the wood, versus those drilled from the bottom. ELYSIAN PARK - The nearly 90 graduates who actively participated in the Los Angeles Fire Department's Fire and EMS Magnet Program at four local high schools, were feted by Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, LAFD leadership, Los Angeles Unified School District and civic leaders, at the program's graduation ceremony on May 18, 2024 at the LAFD Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in Elysian Park.
Joining friends and family in cheering the program graduates from James Monroe, Phineas Banning, Susan Miller Dorsey and Woodrow Wilson High Schools, Chief Crowley applauded each of the participants for their teamwork and commitment in completing the highly structured pathway, which offers the necessary academic, physical and life skills vital to a future fire service career.
She also highlighted the special achievements and leadership of four young women who actively served as the Chiefs of their respective schools' Fire and EMS Magnet Programs.

The EPS Summer Arts Program this year went 'Under the Sea' for their theme and final performances held on Monday, July 21, 2017. This year the students were hosted by Victor Mravlag School #21. Nearly 400 students from throughout the district came together each day to receive enrichment in Visual Arts, which included Drawing, Painting, Ceramics and Photography, and Performing Arts, which included Band and Theater! Parents and family members were treated to an Art Gallery Walk, held in the school gymnasium and two performances by the Band and Theater group entitled 'Adventured Under the Sea' which were created and adapted by the students and staff! The two matinee performances were jam packed with families and friends and the program administrators, Dr. Mari Celi Sanchez, Principal of School #21, Ms. Tracy Monteiro, Supervisor of Visual Arts and Dennis H. Argul, Supervisor of Music, were very thankful and appreciative that Board Commissioner Ms. Caravalho and Board President Mr. Neron were also there in attendance in support of the students and program!
