Durante o encontro, foi realizada a abertura a 4ª Campanha Municipal de Enfrentamento a Violência Contra a Mulher, com uma palestra proferida pela Ex-Secretária Nacional de enfretamento a violência contra a mulher, Aparecida Gonçalves.
Usaram a palavra também a Coordenadora do Centro de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social, Paula Bett, a Coordenadora do Programa Bolsa Família, Maria Emilia Dias, a Secretária Municipal de Assistência Social, Chrislayne Martins, a Soldado Paula, da Policia Militar, o Investigador da Policia Civil, Ricardo Amaral, o Promotor de Justiça, Thiago Barbosa da Silva e a Prefeita Patricia Nelli Margatto. Houve também uma apresentação cultural da Igreja Evangélica Congregacional.
Ao identificar casos de violência contra a mulher, deve-se entrar em contato com o Disque 180 e denunciar o fato às autoridades competentes, ou entrar em contato com as Policias: Civil ou Militar.
Assim, a mulher vítima de agressão receberá apoio e orientações sobre os próximos passos para resolver o problema.

For my first destination in the GV80 I set course to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley to observe the Genesis STEAM Program’s sphere of influence in partnership with Child Creativity Lab. The Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics workshop guided 50 middle school students on how to develop their future mobility vehicles using upcycled materials. It was a day of joy watching the smiles and curiosity on their faces as they built various types of transportation models.

Gardner-Pingree House (1804-1805, architect Samuel McIntire (1757-1811))

This Federal-period home was designed by Samuel McIntire (1757-1811) for John Gardner (1771-1847), who made his fortune in maritime trade (particularly pepper trade) with the opening of new markets after the close of the Revolutionary War. Like many maritime traders, however, Gardner’s fortunes declined when Jefferson’s passed the Embargo Act in 1809. Gardner faced additional losses to pirates, particularly on the eve of the War of 1812, which ruined many merchants, including Gardner. He moved from Salem to his family farm in Danvers, where he remained until his death in 1847. Salem’s trade never recovered.
Born in Salem, MA, architect Samuel McIntire began his career as a woodcarver and eventually turned to building homes for the wealthy elite of Salem. McIntire was heavily influenced by Britain’s Robert Adam, who published designs that featured symmetrical façades and neoclassical ornamentation. It is during the Federal era in the U.S. that builders first consistently created domestic architecture that was fully conceived and executed when erected. Previously, it was typical to build a room or set of rooms with the expectation that the house would grow with the family’s needs and means. McIntire designed both the exterior and interior of homes, and adorned rooms with carved swags, rosettes, garlands, and sheaves of wheat. The exterior ornament on the façade is largely focused on the portico, or entry porch, which features columns, pilasters (flat columns), and a decorative fanlight over the door.

Queremos felicitar a Diego Cornejo, alumno del Programa Oportunidades de EducationUSA Chile que el pasado 8 de junio se graduó de Ingeniería Eléctrica en el MIT. Diego agresó del Instituto Nacional en Santiago y siempre soñó con estudiar en Estados Unidos. Luego de investigar diferentes opciones y recibir orientación y apoyo financiero por parte de EducationUSA, postuló al MIT. Tras cuatro años de estudios, Diego pasará los próximos meses trabajando con una empresa en Silicon Valley. ¡Toda la suerte en este nuevo desafío!
