On December 9, 2016, the Arboretum and Public Garden had the opportunity to welcome a group of students from a journalism program in Visalia CA. The aspiring young journalists had the opportunity to interview our Museum Education & Interpretive Manager- Maya Makker, GATEways Outreach Students- Vivian Le and Rachel Le and our Outreach and Leadership Program Coordinator- Melissa Cruz.

I began Day 5 of SXSW 2017 (Tuesday, March 14) at the Austin Convention Center, where I stopped to check out one of the SXSW Art Program installations: ''Infinity Room'' by Turkish media artist Refik Anadol. It consisted of a small, freestanding, box-like room with mirrors on the floor and ceiling and multiple projectors aimed at the walls, which creates the feeling of being suspended in an infinite space filled with dappled light and ambient sound...

The Seabiscuit program took place on August 2003 at Countryside.

 

Seabiscuit's former jockey lives locally and he described the world of thoroughbred racing in the 1930s when Seabiscuit was the “all-star” of all time. He shared a scrapbook filled with his racing career highlights and shared many memories. The library was filled to capacity that day.

Noted Zambian artist and art teacher Mwamba Mulangala developed a Visual Arts Program for the youth served by Lubuto Libraries, held weekly in Lubuto’s purpose-built Arts and Activities Buildings. The program began at the first Lubuto Library in Lusaka in September 2007.
