Changes: bluer sky, darker grays, increased whites in clouds, contrast boosted with corresponding increase (higher) exposure created blacks in shadows.

An Exploration of modern food through new sculpture. Sculpture, Senior Exhibition.

The Granite Room

My current work addresses the production of food in modern American society. From factory farming to locally raised produce, I seek to explore what may be one of the most pressing issues of our time in a lighthearted and approachable manner. It is widely acknowledged that the industrialization of food manufacturing has transformed the lives, habits, and bodies of Americans, as well as alerted the way that most of our society thinks-or doesn’t think-about where food comes from and what food is. I create digitally fabricated representations of animals that are engineered and produced, and may have more in common with products or raw materials than other living creatures. These animals, which are designed, fabricated and then placed on assembly lines that guide their existence from inception to processing, include chickens, cows, pigs, and fish. My work is also concerned with edible plants and their role in our lives both historically and presently. Plants as well as animals are now being generated inside laboratories, and travel unimaginable distances to reach our supermarkets and tables. This is a marvel of human technology and global society as well as a complex system that may need re-working if humanity is to move toward a sustainable future.

I hope that I can put what goes onto your plate into your thoughts as well.

Computer, Massive Parallel Processor, Processor Unit & Expansion Unit.

This is part of an experimental computer, developed in the mid-1980s by the Goodyear Aerospace Corporation for the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The comptuer derives it name from its ability to operate on large arrays of data in parallel, i.e. on many numbers at once. By contrast, computers of conventional design operate on one or at most a few pieces of data per cycle. One intended application for such a design was the analysis of the large amounts of data received by remote sensing satelliltes.

The Massively Parallel Processor represented one of several approaches to the problem of processing data in parallel. Nearly all modern supercomputers use parallel processing, although not all follow this machine's architecture.

Amanda hand embroidered a sweet set of handkerchiefs with the 903 Creative logo on it for my 28th birthday.

Late, night painting in the studio. The big work light ended up back lighting the washi paper hanging on the line to dry, so I thought it was an interesting effect. I'll have proper posts of these images tomorrow but these are just for fun

Have you ever seen something you have been imagining for days and never spoken of, suddenly represented by another artist in Flickr?? Has it ever happened to you that the type of art you do suddenly appears in your favourite artist or bands´ artwork without them having possibly known? This sort of coincidence is known as Synchronicity but a group of artists and I have been observing the amount of times these coincidences happen. It has happened at least once to almost every person. This is a glimpse of what the scientific term of Collective Unconscious means and how it permeates reality, as science has shown before. The experiment we are about to embark on is based not on promoting synchronistic phenomena but merely on registering each time this happens until we have a large list of these synchronistic phenomena and can find general common factors. There is a place where all thoughts from everyone come together, the place where we dream things that happen or that dont, the place of beauty and art, our dreams. If this has happened to you, you would be helping an ongoing investigation if either you just mentioned it has happened to you (the mere affirmative has statistical value) or you kindly described your case as a comment on this journal. I will let all those who participate know the final result.

More the 40 Soldiers from the Portsmouth-based 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team earn the right to wear cavalry spurs at special unit gatherings after completing a Spur Ride June 19-20, 2013, at Fort Pickett. The Spur Ride is a team building event that mixes cavalry traditions with Soldier skills and the Warrior Ethos in order to build esprit de corps with in the unit. To qualify for the Spur Ride, Soldiers must complete a number of tasks based on their rank to demonstrate proficiency in their job and be nominated by a spur holder who has mentored them through the process. The Spur Ride itself begins early in the morning with physical training and tactical movement through the woods, followed by several stations that test the decision-making ability of the candidates while in a time constrained and stressful environment. After a combatives tournament, the spur candidates conducted mounted land navigation late into the night to five different stations to test the basic skills of a Cavalry Soldier including first aid, vehicle recovery, advanced optics and communications, weapons disassembly and assembly and completion of the Air Assault Obstacle Course. Missa de entrada no processo formativo de Delmario e Tamires

Ketry Barros

Much cuter with an empty mouth. I waited til she was done with her cookies and then got this cute shot of her. Okay I admit it, I helped speed up the process by eating a few of them myself. :)
