the drawing process
with w.i.p
(from may '21) ..
something different, don't normally share any w.i.p as they can end up different than when started ..
Processed on a plane and sent via a slow phone connection. Next few days are likely to be more offline than online...
Putting up my new inspiration stuff today. thinking about my process. Thinking about how I think.
my version of a new year's resolution.
Borrowed some of youngest dottir's Lego and made a mini tunnel, then plonked it on top of the laptop screen with a jpeg of an unprocessed old camera rotation shot on display.
The original jpeg is here: www.flickr.com/photos/hobsonish/32148120081
If your interested in how I create these "cinematic images" please check out this in depth article fstoppers.com/documentary/cinematic-look-how-make-your-ph... ...
Section of a city block and a few custom windows and doors where I need them, to get one shot - all in a days work XD
Hours to set up, seconds to take down! lol
Can't wait to show you what I saw! Post coming much later tonight though. ♥
almost dark inside
just a faint early morning light from windows
a small torch light (borrowed)
several light painting tries ( some with horrible results...)
HDR done from 3 more or less manually bracketed shots
a lot of adjustment layers to equalize lighting
lot of color level adjustments to remove that weird red hue (I think it was coming from the torch light) and enhance contrast .... with red popping out again :-(
detail enhance
adjust contrast and brightness again
clone stamp the electrical wires (some still there) and some scaffolding that were laying against the wall (should have done a better job, I know)
cropping and saving.
finally....
I published this to show my friends how beautiful the place was ..... regardless of the result

Inside view of generative channel system, programmed in processing using some toxiclibs but mostly straight forward vertex shapes. Channels are created by following pixel paths from light to dark in images, simulating water flow.
processed--I'm curious to know which people like better, this or the unprocessed version.
