Croydon-based street artist Rich Simmons, is the mastermind behind the new stunning mural of Princess Diana, which has recently appeared on a historic building in Croydon town centre. The painting of Diana as the Princess in the tower was completed over the weekend with stencils of the paparazzi at the door of the tower, looking up and taking photos.
Rich Simmons, who has made a name for himself through creating some breathtaking murals across Croydon, explained that the idea of doing a Princess Diana mural has been one he has had for some time.
"I walk past the tower everyday and I have had the idea of doing a princess in the top window for a year now. That idea evolved into Princess Diana locked away in the tower waiting for a new prince but the only people chasing her still are the paparazzi. Even as a ghost being trapped in the fairytale castle, she is the one being haunted by the press." - Rich Simmons
Speculation was rife online with debate about the authenticity of the work and whether it could be by the notorious Banksy. This isn't the first time Simmons has been compared or mistaken for Banksy, but the artist is focusing on his own work and laughs off the comparisons.
"It had a lot of people talking about it and debating whether or not it was a Banksy. I think it is really cool that people were considering the artwork to be a Banksy as I consider him a genius...But it is not a Banksy - it is by me." - Rich Simmons
The artist has also created a canvas version of the Princess Diana mural in order to show the details on canvas, since the piece on the tower is 12 metres high! The canvas can be purchased through our gallery via Artsy.
...Engagement, wedding, and eternity rings - diamonds, of course ... :-)) This week's entry into Macro Mondays theme group. Topic: Three.
Wood carved balcony frames of Mughal era shop houses inside the walled city of Lahore. Amazing to see that they survive to this day.
I arrived at the Taj Mahal for opening at 6.30 there were already around 500 people there and this photo spot point was quite difficult to get a good clean shot!

The Taj Mahal is located in Agra, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The construction began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, employing thousands of artisans and craftsmen. It is widely considered as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and stands as a symbol of eternal love. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I was early, and lucky enough, to be able to avoid the crowds being included in the photo :)

Thanks to Borealnz for the texture. I was given a bunch of roses this week and of course spent all afternoon taking them in every possible combination. ( I have never had roses to play with before) You cant beat home grown roses..they have so much character not to mention perfume. Sorry but expect a lot more shots.

This is part of what a family is about, not just love. It’s knowing that your family will be there watching out for you. Nothing else will give you that. Not money. Not fame. Not work.

My sister and I went to see the British Royal Family when they visited Victoria, BC. Prince William is representing our Head of State here in Canada which is HM Queen Elizabeth II.
Catherine is even more beautiful in person than one could imagine. She was radiant and friendly to everyone after she and Prince William got off the Tall Ship in Victoria's Inner Harbour. She left us all feeling starstruck.
August 31st is her 18th death anniversary. Photo was a coincidence on the deck of #QueenMaryShip. #LongBeach. This pigeon sat there in front #LadyDiana massive wall portrait. It was an eerie feeling that her freedom has survived through this pigeon as it represents so many of us who remembers her great deeds for humanity, impoverished children and disadvantaged people across the globe. Princess of the hearts, the queen of the people #LadyDiana.
Explored Paris today, got loads of great pictures, but the internet at the hotel is extremely slow, so just able to upload one picture...

Since I hurt my ankle I've found it hard to sit still with my leg elevated, but last week I started watching Netflix's 'The Crown' (I cheated and started at series 4, but will probably go back one day!). I have mixed feelings about it - it's an enjoyable watch and goes a little way towards explaining periods in recent history that I didn't take much notice of at the time, however the way the Royals talk to each other I take with a pinch of salt. If you've seen it, what are your thoughts?
I decided to have a go at drawing my favourite member of the Royal Family, not everyone's cup of tea, but I do believe her heart was in the right place. I realise this isn't totally accurate, but hopefully she's recognisable in some way! She visited my city, Portsmouth, a few times, although I never got to see her here. My sister did though, and claims she smiled at my sister's hat!

A celebrity in Norwich - Stratford-based 47583 County of Hertfordshire gained some additions to it's early variation of Large Logo livery with the red and blue stripes inside the BR double arrow to celebrate HRH Prince Charles' wedding to Lady Diana Spencer on 29th July 1981. The distinctive Class 47 basks in the sun in Norwich with a set of air-conditioned Mark 2 coaches, almost certainly with a service for Liverpool Street. Note the Cravens DMU on the left.

A small deviation from my nature bird photography.
Taken during the Royal Visit to Canada before they boarded a Harbour Air Sea Plane to depart for Vancouver and then back home to Great Britain.
It was really cute to see Prince George waving to the crowd. This is truly a beautiful family and it was a thrill to see them in person.
Windsor Castle was Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth II's official London Residence. The Royal standard can be seen at the top left of the photo, meaning that The Queen was in residence on that day.
I took this before landing at Heathrow, back in 2016 on my way to the USA via London.

Developed from the short lived Mark III RS1600i a homologation special, for Group A/N competition, launched at the begining of 1983 and gone by September. The 1600i was powered by a 1597cc CVH injection engine with an output of 115bhp, matched with a close ratio five speed transmission.
The RS Turbo followed in 1984, using the same basic engine, but Turbocharged with the use of a Garret AIResearch Turbo, and producing 132bhp which remained throughout its life. The RS Turbo remained in production until 1990, but models can be split into Series 1 based on the Mk.III Escort until 1986 and the Series 2 based on the fourth generation Escort.
The RS Turbo Series 1 was only marketed in a few European nations as production was limited to 5,000 examples, all in white. They were well equipped, with the alloy wheels from the limited production RS 1600i, Recaro seats, and a limited slip differential with only one non white car, a black example built especially for Lady Diana Spencer later HRH Princess of Wales.
