Jane Austen's classic novel about the prejudice that occurred between the 19th century classes and the pride which would keep lovers apart.
The best screening of the novel is the version made by the BBC in 1995, the generic of the film inspired me to make this picture.

June is Pride Month in the UK. Here we are in 2022 and all around the world people are still bullied, harassed, dismissed, discriminated against, hurt and killed simply for who they love.
We should be free to love irrespective of race, religion, gender and gender identity. We are all human. Just one species sharing a single magical oasis in the vastness of space. It is long overdue that we treated each other with humanity and compassion.

My take on this weeks #hss #sliderssunday. The South Pride Lions from Kwandwe. Lots of work had to be done on the light, contrast and colour. The scene as the lion sat within the tall grasses was just phenomenal.
Some lions are "nomads" that range widely and move around sporadically, either in pairs or alone. Pairs are more frequent among related males who have been excluded from their birth pride. A lion may switch lifestyles; nomads can become residents and vice versa. Interactions between prides and nomads tend to be hostile, although pride females in estrus allow nomadic males to approach them. Males spend years in a nomadic phase before gaining residence in a pride. A study undertaken in the Serengeti National Park revealed that nomadic coalitions gain residency at between 3.5 and 7.3 years of age. In Kruger National Park, dispersing male lions move more than 25 km (16 mi) away from their natal pride in search of their own territory. Female lions stay closer to their natal pride. Therefore, female lions in an area are more closely related to each other than male lions in the same area.
The area occupied by a pride is called a "pride area" whereas that occupied by a nomad is a "range". Males associated with a pride tend to stay on the fringes, patrolling their territory. The reasons for the development of sociality in lionesses—the most pronounced in any cat species—are the subject of much debate. Increased hunting success appears to be an obvious reason, but this is uncertain upon examination; coordinated hunting allows for more successful predation but also ensures non-hunting members reduce per capita calorific intake. Some females, however, take a role raising cubs that may be left alone for extended periods. Members of the pride tend to regularly play the same role in hunts and hone their skills. The health of the hunters is the primary need for the survival of the pride; hunters are the first to consume the prey at the site it is taken. Other benefits include possible kin selection; sharing food within the family; protecting the young, maintaining territory and individual insurance against injury and hunger

After photographing a really cool arch, we found this lookout at the perfect time. Sunlight hitting the pride lands and the outline of the canyon, the shadowlands outside the canyon and the dark storm clouds contrasting with the landscape. We arrived, shot for 5 minutes and then left.

I managed to escape the confines of pixel world over the weekend and indulged in the human festivities they call Pride.

Thousands of people poured into Manchester City Centre on 24th August 2024 for the annual Pride celebrations.
The streets were filled full of colour as the Manchester Pride parade set off from Deansgate. Taking on a 'Buzzin to be Queer Theme' inspired by the hardworking Manchester bee, 17,000 took part in the parade - the biggest ever number of participants according to Pride bosses.
Held each year, the parade takes place from Deansgate towards the Gay Village and sees thousands of people line the streets to take in the positive vibes of the event and to show unity with the LGBTQ+ community.
As usual, this year’s parade saw drag artists, community groups and allies take part, with the likes of Danny Beard, Tia Kofi, Su Pollard, DJ Paulette, Russell T Davies and Charity Shop Sue amongst some of the famous faces taking part.
Amongst the corporations, community groups and clubs taking part in this year’s parade were the Manchester Runners, George House Trust, Aer Lingus, Moxy Manchester, African Rainbow Family, The Proud Trust, Village Manchester Football Club and Heart radio station.
Speaking about the parade, Mark Fletcher, CEO of Manchester Pride, told the Manchester Evening News: “I am overwhelmed by the turnout of the Parade this year - it is the longest parade we have ever had, and that’s an achievement considering what we’ve had in the past. It’s free for all the community groups and LGBTQ+ organisations to take part, and we always encourage them to take part as much as possible. One of the things I always say is how proud I am of our allies who take part in the parade too.”
Adding about the theme to this year’s parade, Mark said: “We wanted to take the worker bee, which represents Manchester, and adopt that almost in a way that charts the progress of how far we’ve come in terms of LGBTQ+ equality as well as the need to ‘buzz’ the progress on a little bit too. That’s why we created the Progress Bee - we’ve used that symbol as a degree of ownership and identity. It’s part of the fabric of what Manchester stands for, and the support that we’ve had and that so many pioneers have stepped out and pushed the movement forward.
“We wanted to chart it as a hive of progress recognising all of those that have gone before us and those who take the bee on today and march for continued progress.”

Echium candicans (syn. Echium fastuosum J.Jacq. commonly known as Pride of Madeira, is a species of flowering plant in the family Boraginaceae, native to the island of Madeira. It is a large herbaceous Perennial subshrub, growing to 1.5–2.5 m (4 ft 11 in–8 ft 2 in).
In the first year after germination the plant produces a broad rosette of leaves. In the second and subsequent years more or less woody flowering stalks are produced clothed in rough leaves. The flower head is large and covered with blue flowers having red stamens. It is much visited by bees and butterflies for its nectar.

There are reasons beyond Covid that are currently keeping me from street photography but I am so deeply grateful that you have all supported me throughout this period.
