My little granddaughter's preschool group had a scooter and bike athon to raise money for the St. Judes Hospital for children. While this was going on this young man found this puddle of water and just like a BOY this is where he stayed. He was so cute - he fell in at one point. I loved the reflection in the puddle. Hope you will like it, too. We all had a fun afternoon just being around all these precious little ones.

It is hard to fathom that my littlest bean child is about to turn 3! His birthday is the same as his Great Grandma’s...September 5th.

Today i picked him up from preschool, because i my daughter had to work late and my son in law had to head out to pickup and reset the crab traps, and decided to bring in the haul (a half bushel of them!) and cook them, before heading to a friends with Luke after i brought him home.

Luke did not know i was picking him up, and was both surprised and happy. His teacher asked what he was going to do with me today, and he told her that i was going to his house. I told him only for a little bit, because he was going with his daddy to watch football and to play with his friend Sawyer! He was delighted!

On the way home i decided to ask him about football. He has some knowledge of the game and knows that they run, they catch and they make a TOUCHDOWN! (which he YELLS with emphasis!!) i decided to ask him if he knew his dad’s favorite team...he did not...so i told him it was the Washington Redskins and that the colors were a reddish and yellowish color. He replied that HIS favorite team “starts out green”. Really!!? i replied...then what happens?? I was told that “then it changes.”

i then go a full on oration of the fact the it changes color and then they are running running and then they are green, but then they are not green and they TOUCHDOWN! This explanation was repeated several times to me for emphasis. i did not have the heart to tell him i had no clue what he was talking about...but for all i understand about football he probably makes more sense to me than the game does!!

All i know about football is that it is played in a time warp that lasts for many hours....and not much happens in those many hours!! If you are lucky and there IS a touchdown, you might get to see a little booty shaking dance by the person that got the touchdown. Halftime lasts the shortest of any part of the game...and that is just people sitting there talking about all the stuff that did not happen...which i guess makes sense because how much time is needed to discuss nothing happening?Sometimes i think there is music....or maybe that is only Superbowl....which seems to be time warp XXL with a lot more food, to entice people to watch.

MY tradition for Super Bowl is to grab a good book and a big pillow in a quiet room. Maybe one day i will have to watch to see if the “green ones” do change color!

My latest roll with the trusty AE-1 was the Lomochrome Metropolis film from Lomography. I had no idea what to expect from the muted colors in example shots, but I instantly fell in love with the results. It's different from the otherworldly Lomochrome Purple XR, but quite beautiful and probably retro in the best way I could imagine. Definitely going back to this one.

Yesterday Carley and I went with her preschool class

to this neat farm - we both had a wonderful day!

Sadie just had her Preschool Orientation Day at school, which she officially starts this fall. It was exhilarating to watch her run around playing with all the toys and trying out all the stations but what she loved most was this sandbox. Her Daddy is currently busy making her one in the backyard as we speak.

I teared up so many times seeing my baby in actual SCHOOL. I feel like the doctor was just handing her to me in a bundle a year ago!

I'm very proud of the catsup smiley faces on the cats. After I finished W told me he wanted angry faces though. Oh well.

The new school year has been underway for a couple of weeks for most students in Des Moines except for the youngest students, who began on Wednesday. I stopped by one of our early childhood education centers as preschoolers began a new year.

Preschool Christmas Program for Grant and Aster

My preschooler has been barely eating any of his lunch and I've become increasingly frustrated when I open his lunch box in the evening and find piles of food sitting in it undisturbed. He usually will eat some of his leftovers when he gets home, but often there are foods that need to be thrown out because they're no longer safe to eat. The food waste is really getting to me, so yesterday I decided to pack a lunch in only one container of his lunch box. (I forgot to take a picture.) We're going to try the same thing today.

If he doesn't eat the spicy meat today, I'm going to start taking it personally.

First Day of Preschool

The minder reads her phone while the kids get dirty

I need to get better at editing, would love to do this with a completely darkened background.

Or use a backdrop. And get a ring light.

Oh the list of wants is long.

I'm quite enjoying taking pictures of faces, which continues to surprise me because I'm not good at peopling. I need to borrow some other people's children and see if I like taking pictures of them too, haha.
