The Geese are practicing their V formation as part of their fall ritual. The sounds of them squawking away as they fly overhead in large flocks is a sure sign the season is changing. I watched these geese take off together and I was impressed at how close they were beside each other. They were able to co-ordinate the movement of their wings so they did not bump into each other.
In the glare of the spotlight, the world fell away. The movements as repetitive as the mantra blaring in her head: Practice makes perfect.....
We went back and found the fledglings again. This chick was flapping its wings and taking short flights from branch to branch.
Leaving nothing to chance, Harry steps up his game to be as spooky and scary as he can before October.

The rowing clubs get out in the morning to practice on the Yara. This quad sculls was doing nicely as it passed by the bridge. One of the Saturday treats is to watch them.

Practice Makes Perfect - A couple weeks ago, I observed a cooperative immature Red-tailed Hawk on a family hike. I didn't get the shots I wanted that day, but figured I'd try again.
My buddy and I were treated to almost an hour of great passes by this hawk during a windy morning as it practiced hunting and chased a group of Turkey Vultures around. Was a great opportunity to practice bird in flight (BIF) techniques!

This old truck has served its later years as a target for bored local residents.About 50 feet to the left of the truck,there was a pile of 12 gauge shells.From the size of the pile,they AREN'T very good marksman...well it is a 12 gauge after all...

The city took its name from the hill. Mandalay Hill is known for its abundance of pagodas and monasteries, and has been a major pilgrimage site for Burmese Buddhists for nearly two centuries. At the top of the hill is the Sutaungpyei iterally wish-fulfilling Pagoda. A panoramic view of Mandalay from the top of Mandalay Hill alone makes it worthwhile to attempt a climb up its stairways. To get a sense of Mandalay’s pancake-flat sprawl, climb the 240 metres hill that breaks it. The barefooted walk up covered stairways on the hill's southern slope is a major part of the experience passing through and around a colourful succession of prayer and shopping opportunities. The climb takes a good 30 minutes, but much longer if you allow for stops en route. The summit viewpoint is especially popular at sunset when young monks converge on foreigners for language practice.
Just outside the North of downtown, Mandalay Hill which summit is 240 m above the surrounding plain is the natural watch-tower for the visitors to watch sunrise or sunset over the city plains. Every one who arrived in Mandalay, the ancient capital of Myanmar, usually goes to Mandalay Hill, the landmark of Mandalay, which overlooks the city.
Mandalay is de op een na grootste stad van Myanmar en ligt aan de voet van de 240 m hoge Mandalay Heuvel. In vroegere tijden was Mandalay echter niet de hoofdstad van deze streek. Vandaag de dag is Mandalay weer opgebouwd tot een machtige stad die de verbinding vormt tussen alle handel tussen Noord- en Centraal-Myanmar. Ook is Mandalay een religieus centrum, waar u duizenden pagoda’s, tempels en kloosters kunt bewonderen. De allerbelangrijkst is echter de Maha Muni Pagode, waar een kolossaal boeddhabeeld bedekt met een dikke laag bladgoud te bezichtigen is. Daarnaast is een beklimming van de Mandalay Hill, vlak voor zonsondergang een unieke ervaring. Via een trap van meer dan 1700 treden is deze beklimming een ware uitdaging, maar de beloning is groot. Vanaf dit hoge punt heeft u een uitmuntend uitzicht heeft over het landschap, waartussen de Irrawaddy rivier zich een weg kronkelt.

After finally finishing unpacking the obvious next step was to start practicing. Alison pulled her wand from her holster and took a step toward the trunk. Keeping her distance she pushed the trunk's lid open with the tip of her sneakers and quickly jumped back. A grin struck her face and she was ready!
