I thought this project would be therapeutic. I also wanted to convey in my own way some of what it's like to be HIV+ in 2010.

I hope people will gain a better understanding about our feelings and experiences. I know HIV isn't a death sentence any more. However, there is still a lot of stigma attached to the virus.

I am part of this exhibit because I welcomed a challenge to explore the feelings, thoughts and emotions that would emerge surrounding my HIV+ status via the actual capturing and selection of the photographs. I also want to raise awareness with Wisconsin residents that HIV/AIDS truly IS in our urban and rural communities, while sharing my personal journey, vision and transparency through my snapshots.

I hope this exhibit provides people an opportunity to correct any defects in the personal lens through which they view HIV/AIDS. I, a woman living with HIV/AIDS, could be your sister, friend, daughter, mother, co-worker/colleague, acquaintance, someone at the grocery store, or the person driving in the car next to you. I want people to know that AIDS is not just something people wore red ribbons about in the 1990s but a REAL ISSUE TODAY.
