I have been asked by a friend to experiment in the use of a portable pixl-latr frame and a DSLR for converting (analogue) film to a digital image.

The frame has two functions (i) to hold flat various sizes of film and (ii) to diffuse light from any type of source. The light source in this image was from an iPad that has a light box app installed.

This is my favorite, a late 30's RCA Victor portable "Victrola". It uses no batteries or electricity... strictly wind-up spring motor. The volume and tone depends on the thickness of the steel needles. The thicker needle is louder, the thinner, softer. Bought on e-Bay for $40. No one was looking at it or missed it!~

This is a big one. Had it for years but is on eBay now. Only weighs 16 pounds!

At Fort St. Jean Baptiste, Natchitoches, Louisiana.

The 18th century saw intense competition among the Spanish, French and British empires for control of the northern Gulf of Mexico. The Spanish had been there first, but neglected the region for centuries until the French arrived. To block Spanish missionaries from Mexico from advancing further east, the Poste de Natchitoches was founded in 1714, in northwest Louisiana. Two years later, the French built there the palisade fort of St. Jean Baptiste. The original fort was abandoned and rotted long ago. The replica fort we see today was built in 1979.

Remington Compact Portable, n° EC45629. "Assembled by British Labour at the Remington Typewriter Factory, London, from parts made in U.S.A.".

Remington Portable typewriter #1, serial number NV23293 (July 1922).

We bought this portable TV about 1978 - it cost £150 (we paid for it on 2-years credit). I remember asking the shop if they did an extended warranty. They said it wouldn't need one - "It'll last for years" they said. They were right. We used it everyday from purchase right up until they turned off the analogue TV signal, with only one minor electrical repair required to the on/off switch. Now I can't get a picture, even with a digi box connected. So it's off to the tip. Sad really, but to be realistic it owes us absolutely nothing and it did take up a lot of space on the kitchen worktop.

I´m a belgian photographer and graphic designer. I would like to share a collaborative community magazine we just started. It stands for social and environmental discovery by innovation, art, projets, culture, science and other interesting topics. We also invite fans to contribute with their own discoveries by posting them on the fan page. For Recyclart I decided to share an "hommage" to the legendary Boom Case stereo suitcase with the last attemp I made with a friend.
